Introduction
In the world of skincare, drugstores are often overlooked as a source for high-quality products. However, there are hidden gems to be found at affordable prices. In this article, we will explore drugstore skincare favorites and new finds that are worth giving a try. From sunscreen to lip balms, these products have the potential to rival their high-end counterparts.
Lar Ro, Ps, SPF 70 Daily Lotion Sunscreen
I’ve recently discovered the Lar Ro, Ps, SPF 70 Daily Lotion Sunscreen and it has quickly become one of my drugstore skincare favorites. This organic sunscreen is infused with ninine, a beneficial ingredient for redness and hyperpigmentation. Although it’s not water resistant, it offers great protection against UV rays. The only downside is its slightly shiny finish and the occasional peeling effect, especially when applied on bare skin.
SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen
Another option I’ve tried is the SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen, which contains zinc and titanium dioxide. While it does leave a slight cast on the skin, it is fragrance-free, making it suitable for those with sensitive skin. Like the Lar Ro sunscreen, it is also not water resistant, making it ideal for everyday use but not for water-based activities or sports.
Water Resistant Sunscreen Recommendation
If you’re looking for a water resistant sunscreen for outdoor activities, I highly recommend the Ro POS SPF 50 Face and Body Kids Sunscreen. This sunscreen is specially formulated to provide long-lasting protection even when exposed to water. It may feel a little heavier on the skin compared to other sunscreens, but its effectiveness is worth it. You can find it at Walgreens for $28.99.
Overall, the Lar Ro, Ps, SPF 70 Daily Lotion Sunscreen and the SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen are great everyday options for sun protection. However, if you’re planning to spend time in the water or engage in sports, opt for the Ro POS SPF 50 Face and Body Kids Sunscreen for maximum protection. Remember to always prioritize sunscreen in your skincare routine to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.
Triple Repair Moisturizing Cream
They have this in the tube, so the triple repair moisturizing cream. I really like it has niacinamide, which is good for the moisture barrier. It’s not greasy and it’s great if you have atopic dermatitis or rashy eczema as it helps with barrier replenishment. It also contains ceramides, which are naturally found in your skin barrier and lipids.
Moisturizer for Eyes with Vitamin C
They also have a new moisturizer for around the eyes with vitamin C, ascorbic acid. This can help cut down on oxidative stress and may improve collagen production. However, the penetration of ascorbic acid can be an issue. The moisturizer also contains shea butter, which is nice and moisturizing. It does not appear to have any fragrance, which is good for those with sensitivity. I might like to give this a try sometime, since I find that many vitamin C serums can be irritating around the eyes.
Redermic Retinol Eyes
Retinol can be a little irritating around the eyes, so a retinol eye cream is usually a good idea. In that case, a retinol eye cream like this one, Redermic Retinol Eyes, tends to be gentler. The package also mentions the presence of caffeine, which is good for temporarily de-puffing the under-eye area.
These drugstore skincare products are some of my favorites and new finds. They offer affordable options for those looking for effective skincare solutions. Whether it’s a moisturizer for the face or eyes, these products have beneficial ingredients like niacinamide, ceramides, vitamin C, ascorbic acid, and retinol. They are designed to provide hydration, improve skin barrier function, and target specific concerns like oxidative stress and puffiness around the eyes.
Considering the affordable price point, these drugstore skincare favorites and new finds are worth giving a try. They can be easily incorporated into your skincare routine and may provide noticeable benefits for your skin. So next time you’re at the drugstore, don’t forget to check out these skincare gems!
Favorites for Brightening and Hydrating
Caffeine can brighten up the under eye area temporarily, making it a great ingredient to look for in skincare products. One such product is the serum priced at $49.99. It contains not only caffeine but also sodium hyaluronate, which is a form of hyaluronic acid. This combination helps hydrate the skin and temporarily smooth out fine lines.
A Serum with Multiple Benefits
A glycolic acid serum called glycolic B5 is another fantastic find. What sets it apart is the inclusion of tranexamic acid, which has been known to help with redness and even dark spots to some extent. While oral tranexamic acid is known to be effective for hyperpigmentation, this serum contains kojic acid, which is excellent for targeting dark spots. Additionally, the serum contains copper, which plays a crucial role in the pigment control enzyme called tyrosinase. This serum is a worthy addition to your skincare routine, especially if you’re looking to tackle dark spots and redness.
Steer Clear of Fragranced Serums
Fragrance can be overpowering in certain serums, and personally, I’m not a fan of it. That’s why I’m pleased that this particular serum, formerly known as Melody pigment control, has now been rebranded without any fragrance. This change makes it a favorable option for those who prefer fragrance-free skincare products.
An Unpopular Opinion on Lip Glosses
Now let me share a somewhat unpopular opinion about lip glosses. I’ll be honest; I found the Nick butter glosses to be quite underwhelming. As someone who has a bit of a lip gloss addiction, I’ve tried my fair share of products, and these ones fell far and away from my expectations. But of course, everyone’s preferences are different, so let me know in the comments if you’ve tried them and what your thoughts are.
Something Tempting to Try
Despite my mixed experience with lip glosses, there is one product that has caught my attention. It’s the NYX fat oil, and I must admit, it looks quite tempting. Although I can’t justify adding another lip product to my collection, this one seems worth considering for those who are looking to explore new options.
A Tried and Tested Favorite
Finally, there’s one product that I absolutely love and highly recommend to anyone who will listen. It’s called “that ink,” and it has become a staple in my skincare routine. If you’re a fan of lightweight, non-greasy formulas, this product will definitely win you over.
Velvet Lip Gloss and Lip Liner
I have been loving the velvet lip gloss that I’ve been wearing from the Perry brand, as well as their lip liner. These Korean products have been a great find and provide a matte liquid lip type effect. Another brand that I highly recommend is AUD, which offers fixing tints that are long-wearing and moisturizing.
The Trend of Oil Gritting
I recently created a video on TikTok about the trend of oil gritting. It’s been all the rage lately, so be sure to check out my video if you’re interested. Oil gritting refers to a condition that is often mistaken for blackheads. These little black dots that appear on the nose are actually a condition called trost stasis spinulosa.
Boring Pore Strobes
A great way to remove these little collections of hair that get stuck in the pore is by using pore strips. Many people rave about these strips and show off the results, which are often just the removal of these little hair clusters. However, it’s important to not overdo it with these strips as they can cause dryness and irritation when peeled off.
Alternative Solutions
If you’re looking for other options, using products with salicylic acid or adoline consistently may help to some extent. These ingredients can help reduce the accumulation of cellular debris in the pore, which can anchor these tiny hair collections. Walgreens offers charcoal pore strips that are popular for those with oily skin.
Skincare is a personal journey, and it’s always exciting to discover new drugstore favorites. Whether it’s finding the perfect lip gloss or tackling stubborn black dots on the nose, there are options out there for everyone. Keep exploring and experimenting to find what works best for your skin. Happy shopping!
Favorites for Oily Skin
For those dealing with oiliness, there are a few drugstore skincare favorites that can help. One option is the Bor ones range, which works effectively in removing excess oil. Another notable find is the little bis hair collection, which is especially useful for tackling strios and stas of spinulosa on the upper chest. Although many people don’t pay as much attention to this area, it’s worth noting its potential significance.
Must-Have Hand Cream
One hand cream that I have been using and recommending for years is from Neutrogena. Unfortunately, they discontinued the scented version, and I feared they would discontinue the fragrance-free one as well. Luckily, they haven’t done so yet, and it continues to be available for $6.99. Another alternative worth considering is the hand cream from L. Ro POS, which is part of their seea line. What sets these hand creams apart is their fast-absorbing formula, ensuring there is no sticky residue left behind. This is particularly beneficial when working at a desk or if you frequently need to wash your hands at work and cannot tolerate oily residues.
Affordable Cleanser Option
A great basic cleanser that I highly recommend is from the vanny cream range. However, if you’re looking for a more affordable option, I suggest not purchasing it at Walgreens. Instead, try checking out Walmart where you can find it for a significantly lower price. Of course, Walgreens does have its own version of the cleanser, so feel free to explore both options and choose the one that best suits your needs.
“Vanny Cream: A Budget-friendly Cleanser”
Looking for a basic cleanser that does the job without drying out your skin? Consider trying Vanny Cream, a gentle facial cleanser that effectively degreases oily skin. This new addition from THS is a hydrating, milky toner infused with snow mushroom and hyaluronic acid. Intriguingly, snow mushroom is known for its hydrating properties, making this product a promising choice. Fragrance-free and suitable for all skin types, it might be worth giving Vanny Cream a try.
“Affordable Options for Adapalene Gel”
Adapalene gel, commonly used for acne treatment, is available under different brand names. While the Storm brand version is reliable, it’s worth exploring other retailers as adapalene gel can vary in price. If you’re on a budget, consider comparing prices to find a more affordable option. Adapalene gel is FDA-approved and versatile, addressing issues such as blackheads, whiteheads, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and sunspots. In fact, it can significantly lighten age spots. To learn more about fading age spots and different treatment options, including in-office procedures and topicals, check out my recent video.
“Salicylic Acid Body Wash: A Solution for Seborrheic Dermatitis”
Many individuals unknowingly suffer from seborrheic dermatitis on their body, characterized by small oily patches that can become inflamed. If you have a deeper skin tone, this condition may temporarily affect your skin color. To alleviate this issue, consider incorporating salicylic acid body wash into your skincare routine. Salicylic acid, known for its exfoliating properties, can effectively treat seborrheic dermatitis and restore the skin’s natural balance. By using a salicylic acid body wash, you can reduce inflammation and bring back the natural color of your skin.
Salicylic Acid Body Wash
The drugstore is filled with a variety of options when it comes to salicylic acid body wash. One standout option is from a different brand. This body wash not only helps with acne, but it also aids in gently exfoliating the skin. Its unique formulation includes glycolic acid, which is known for its exfoliating properties. If you struggle with chest and back acne, this body wash is definitely worth a try.
Daily Brightening Exfoliator
A new addition to the drugstore skincare lineup is a daily brightening exfoliator. This product is specifically designed to tackle dark spots on the skin. It contains koic acid and niacinamide, both of which are known for their effectiveness in reducing dark spots. To use this exfoliator, simply apply it to damp skin, gently massage, and rinse thoroughly with warm water. If you’re dealing with post-acne dark spots, this product may be worth exploring for its potential in accelerating clearance.
Walgreens Dupe for Super Goop Sunscreen
For those who are familiar with the popular Unseen sunscreen from Super Goop, there’s an exciting dupe available at Walgreens. This drugstore version offers SPF 40 and is water-resistant. Similar to the original, it has a clear, colorless formula that provides a cushiony texture and a pore-blurring effect. This dupe comes at an affordable price of $18.99, making it a great alternative for those looking to protect their skin without breaking the bank.
Protecting Your Lips
While we often focus on keeping our skin protected from the sun, it’s important not to overlook our lips. Lips are particularly vulnerable to sun damage, so it’s crucial to apply sunscreen frequently. The lip sunscreen tends to wear off more easily with talking, drinking, and eating, so reapplication is key. Consider trying an SPF 30 sunscreen specifically designed for lips to ensure their protection.
Organic Sunscreen Options
When it comes to sunscreen, it’s important to find one that suits your needs and preferences. Many drugstore options tend to be heavily scented, which can be off-putting for some. However, if you prefer organic products, there are alternatives available. For example, an organic sunscreen containing papaya fruit extract and mango might not be suitable for sensitive skin, as these ingredients can potentially cause irritation. Additionally, some sunscreens claim to leave no cast, which means they won’t leave a whitish residue on your skin. However, it’s important to note that even with spray-on sunscreens, you still need to physically rub them in for proper application, as spraying alone won’t be sufficient.
Copper Tone’s Invisible Finish Face
Copper Tone has recently released a new addition to their “every tone” line called the Invisible Finish Face. This sunscreen is meant to be used on the face and is water-resistant for up to 40 minutes. However, it’s worth mentioning that when I tried using the body version on my face, it caused a burning sensation in my eyes. I’m curious if the facial formula is better suited for use around the eyes. I’ve had experiences with sunscreens that caused blurry vision and watery, burny eyes, and it’s not a pleasant experience. Hopefully, the face-specific formula avoids such issues.
Duke Cannon Bloody Knuckles Hand Repair Balm
One drugstore skincare favorite that I’ve found is the Duke Canon Bloody Knuckles fragrance-free hand cream, which is actually more like a hand repair balm. However, I find it slightly annoying that it comes in a small jar instead of a tube. It would be much more convenient and easier to use if it were in a tube format. Nevertheless, the hand cream itself is excellent and helps provide relief for dry, cracked hands. It’s an underrated gem worth checking out.
Hidden Gems: Uncovering New Finds
Sometimes, there are hidden gems within drugstore skincare options. These products may not receive as much attention as others, but they can still be great discoveries. Unfortunately, the content provided doesn’t mention any specific products hidden in the author’s drugstore skincare collection. However, it’s always exciting to uncover new finds and share them with others to expand their skincare options.
Drugstore skincare offers a wide range of options for different preferences and needs. Whether you prefer organic sunscreens or are in search of a reliable hand repair balm, there are products available that can cater to your requirements. Additionally, it’s exciting to uncover new skincare gems within the drugstore, providing more choices for a well-rounded skincare routine.
Psoriasis Wash with Salicylic Acid
Walgreens offers a psoriasis wash that contains 3% salicylic acid. This product can be highly beneficial for individuals dealing with psoriasis. It effectively thins out psoriasis plaques and also proves helpful for those with seborrheic dermatitis on their face. Salicylic acid face washes can aid in reducing flakiness and improving the regulation of cell turnover. In addition to the wash, Walgreens also offers a 3% salicylic acid moisturizer. This moisturizer does not contain any fragrance and includes safflower seed oil, which acts as a good emollient and moisturizer. The moisturizer is priced at $8.99, while the wash costs $9.99.
Silicone Scar Gels for Raised Scars
Silicone scar gels are known for their ability to enhance the final appearance of raised, thickened scars. However, they do not have a significant impact on atrophic scars that are depressed below the skin surface. For individuals dealing with atrophic acne scars, I recommend watching my recent video on fillers specifically designed for such scars. I have covered this topic extensively in my earlier videos as well. Those prone to developing thicker scars during the healing process can benefit from using silicone scar gels. These gels work by softening and hydrating the skin, reducing frictional forces that can lead to the thickening of scars and the formation of blood vessels. The chest area, in particular, is prone to the development of thickened scars, especially in individuals who have undergone chest surgery or sustained a cut in that area. Silicone scar gels can be incredibly beneficial in such cases.
Drugstore Skincare Favorites And New Finds!
Scar Sheets: A Great Option for Scar Reduction
If you’re looking for an effective solution to reduce scars, silicone scar sheets are a great option. While they may not be available in this particular drugstore, they can be found in various sizes, including ones specifically designed for c-section scars. Using scar sheets is highly recommended as it can help prevent the formation of thickened scars in that area. Additionally, it aids in reducing itchiness, which is a common issue with scars. By minimizing friction on the scar, proper healing can occur, leading to a softer and flatter appearance. Remember, the earlier you start using scar sheets, the higher the likelihood of achieving your desired outcome.
Say No to Sun In!
While exploring drugstore products, I couldn’t help but notice that Sun In is still available. It’s concerning to see that not only do they have the original lemon fresh version, but now they also offer Tropical Breeze. However, I strongly advise staying away from this product. Sun In is not good for your hair, and if it accidentally comes into contact with your skin, it can cause adverse effects. Protect your hair and skin by avoiding this product altogether.
SPF Lip Balms: A Rare Gem
During my previous drugstore shopping experience, I came across a unique find – CarX Weather Guard. As SPF lip balms can be challenging to find, stumbling upon this product was quite exciting. It’s always a struggle to find lip balms that offer sun protection, but the CarX Weather Guard seems to meet this requirement. So, if you’ve been on the hunt for a reliable SPF lip balm, keep an eye out for this gem.
Weather Guard Organic Sunscreen
One product that caught my eye is the Weather Guard Organic Sunscreen. Typically, I am cautious about trying products from CarX due to the potential for lip irritation caused by ingredients like Menthol, phenol, and salicylic acid. However, this sunscreen is different – it is an organic, chemical sunscreen without phenol and other irritants. It also boasts water resistance. The only downside is that it contains flavor additives, which can sometimes lead to lip irritation. Despite this, I believe it is worth a try, though not as fantastic as some other options like the banana boat SPF lip balm or the up and up version.
Odd Tingle Lip Balm
Another intriguing find is the Odd Tingle Lip Balm. While it may cause some irritation, particularly for individuals with sensitive lips like myself, it is still worth considering. Priced at just 1.79, it may not have been the most popular item on the shelves, but it is definitely worth a shot. The slight tingling sensation it provides may be bothersome for some, but others may find it invigorating.
Walgreens’ Delight
Walgreens has always been a reliable source for skincare favorites, and they have not disappointed this time either. With a wide range of products, there is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for skincare essentials or experimenting with new products, Walgreens is sure to have you covered. Plus, their affordable prices make it even more enticing to explore their skincare aisle.
Affordable Skincare Superiority
While high-end expensive skincare products often dominate the conversation, it is important not to overlook the hidden treasures within drugstores. Affordable skincare can sometimes be just as effective, if not better, than its pricier counterparts. Drugstore brands have put in the effort to create quality products that cater to a wider audience. So, don’t be afraid to explore the realm of drugstore skincare and discover the wonders it has to offer.
