Base Products
When it comes to my base makeup, there are a few products that I reach for regularly. One of my favorites is the minimalist perfecting complexion stick. It offers creamy, light to medium coverage and acts as an all-over skin fix. I use it to even out my complexion and conceal any redness or spots. To blend it in, I always use their brilliant brush number one. This gives me a natural finish that looks so skin-like when I lightly pat or press it in with the brush.
For under eye concealer, I still prefer using a separate brightening product. But after finishing my final backups of Chanel and YSL, I turned to the fresh lightweight fluid from CLA. It provides more intense spot concealing than the minimalist stick. Another repeat entry from last year is the Chanel revitalizing foundation. It gives my skin a silky, slightly more put-together look while still maintaining a light and glowy finish. This foundation is loved by celebrities like Emily Blunt and ioa Debris, making it a popular choice among makeup artists.
For a sheer and natural look, my go-to base product for the spring and summer is the Summer Fridays sheer skin tint. It offers sheer to light coverage, giving my complexion a subtle boost without looking like I’m wearing a lot of makeup. It’s perfect for those laidback, no-makeup makeup days.
Blush and Bronzer
Now, let’s talk about blush and bronzer. I have to admit, this is the longest list of favorites! I have plenty of familiar faces from my videos and some off-camera friends that I always reach for. A standout category for me is the stack of shadow sticks. These are perfect for creating quick and easy eye looks. I love how creamy they are and how effortlessly they blend. Another category that I can’t get enough of is luscious lipsticks and glosses. The shades and formulas are fantastic.
Eyes and Shadow Palettes
When it comes to eye makeup, I have a few favorites that I consistently go back to. Shadow palettes are a staple in my collection. The variety of shades and finishes allows me to create endless eye looks. Mascara is another essential for me. I always want my lashes to look long and voluminous, so I’m constantly trying out different formulas to find the best one.
Brushes and Tools
No makeup routine is complete without the right brushes and tools. I have a few favorites that I always turn to. They help me achieve a flawless application and blend everything seamlessly. Plus, they make the whole process so much more enjoyable. And the best part is, I have discount codes for these brushes listed below!
Skin Care and Hair Care
I can’t forget about skincare and hair care! It’s important to take care of your skin and hair to ensure a healthy and glowing complexion. I have some favorite skincare products that I’ve been loving lately. They keep my skin hydrated, smooth, and radiant. And when it comes to my hair, I have some holy grail products that keep my locks looking beautiful and shiny.
As you can see, there are so many amazing makeup and beauty products that I’ve been
The Perfect Base
When it comes to achieving a flawless complexion, I have found the perfect combination for my normal to dry skin. I start by mixing a few drops of my favorite foundation together, ensuring that it spreads evenly across my face. I love a dewy look, so I don’t mind my makeup moving with me throughout the day. However, for those occasions when I need a little extra coverage, I turn to Terrys mini pressed Hydra powder. This compact powder has been a staple in my makeup bag for a long time. It is not only highly effective in concealing any imperfections or oiliness in my T-zone, but it also provides a natural finish that I simply adore.
Perfectly Sculpted Brows
One makeup product that I cannot live without is the Charlotte Tilbury brow lift. This brow pencil has a wider tip and a creamy texture that allows me to lightly shade in my brows, giving them a fuller appearance. I have tried countless brow products, but this one remains my favorite. Another brow product that I have recently enjoyed is Merritts Brown 1980 volumizing Pomade. It has a similar creamy texture, neither too thin nor too thick. The larger tapered spoolie brush allows for easy application and provides a fluffy lift to my brows. Both of these products help to keep my brows in place without feeling heavy or sticky.
A Bronzer That Rules Them All
When it comes to bronzer, Meritt bronze Bal is my go-to. True to its name, it provides a beautiful bronzed effect that is sheer and blends effortlessly into the skin. It gives a subtle and natural look that you can hardly tell you’re wearing any bronzer at all. I simply swipe it on and smudge it with my fingers for a foolproof warm finish. It is the perfect bronzer for achieving that sun-kissed glow.
A Multi-purpose Miracle Balm
In addition to my bronzer, I have found another multi-purpose product that I can’t get enough of. Jones Road Miracle balm in tny works wonders as a blush bronzer hybrid. While it may not fit into the traditional blush category, I find that it adds a beautiful flush of color to my cheekbones. Its super balmy and dewy texture works wonders on my dry skin, making it a must-have for my beauty routine.
These 2023 makeup favorites have become essential parts of my daily beauty routine. From the perfect base to beautifully sculpted brows and a bronzer that gives a natural glow, these products have truly stood out in the world of beauty. And let’s not forget the multi-purpose miracle balm that adds a touch of color and hydration to my cheeks. If you haven’t tried these products yet, I highly recommend you give them a go and experience the best of beauty in 2023.
Chanel Bal Sentiel in Sculpting
A little goes a long way with the Chanel Bal Sentiel in Sculpting. Just a tiny bit of this product on my cheeks gives me the perfect tint and a gorgeous glossy glow. Makeup artist Patty Du Broth created a minimal wedding look using this product, which served as an inspiration for many of us this year. The luminous pearly shimmer and sheen that this formula provides make it the best choice for achieving a natural and radiant complexion. It has easily become one of the biggest blush favorites in the history of Chanel.
Meritt Flush Balm
The Meritt Flush Balm is a thin, sheer, buildable blush that is an absolute delight to use. As a dewy blush addict, I find this product to be perfect for achieving a rosy terracotta look, giving my cheeks a healthy sun-kissed glow. The shade Fox is my go-to, and it complements my peachier moods perfectly. It’s worth noting that the shade family of Fox is said to be the color of the year for 2024.
Viet Bizu Blush in Louise
The Viet Bizu Blush in Louise is a swirled marbled product in pink and beige. At first, it feels barmy but then blends seamlessly into a slightly powdery matte finish. The texture of this blush almost disappears on the skin, creating a natural and effortless look. I particularly enjoy layering this fresh shade earlier in the year when the stick size was smaller.
Charlotte Tilbury Easy Lip and Cheek Wand in Super Chic
The Charlotte Tilbury Easy Lip and Cheek Wand in Super Chic is a versatile product that comes in a quick and easy set or as a refill. It is a top choice for achieving a sun-kissed terracotta look, offering a more pigmented version of the beloved Forant Tera blush. Charlotte Tilbury has truly created a masterpiece with this new blush creation. The only improvement I would suggest is the addition of a lid for the refill version.
Matte Beauty Blush Wand in Pillow Torque
I fell for her matte Beauty blush wand in pillow torque. The ease of her sponge tip highlighters in a long-lasting pigmented matte liquid pillow torque is a rich, dusty rose bold color. I give it a soft squeeze and stick to two dots per cheek. Safia Richie certainly gave nude sticks a big boost this year when their sticks featured heavily in her wedding weekend.
Sun Kissed Terra Cotta Blush Obsession
So I rediscovered a 2019 favorite, sun kissed. This shade might have been what began my terra cotta blush obsession in the first place. It’s pigmented matte, but still creamy, so it sticks around longer than my dewy picks. I also got back into Sunset Strip, a much brighter coral pink. It looks so fresh and vibrant on its own or layered on top of sun kissed for a pinch of brightness. After revisiting the texture in a video this year, Rare Beauty stay vulnerable melting blush in nearly apricot hung out in my daily makeup bag for quite a while, like VFR. This is so creamy in the compact, but transforms to a whipped powdery feel for a delicate pop of color.
Danessa MRIs Yummy Skin Blurring Balm
Quick honorable mention to an innovative new formula this year in a similar balm-to-powder family: Danessa MRIs yummy skin blurring balm. It flushes controls oil for soft matte color that won’t slide off your cheeks.
Tan Jubilee Monochrome Look
To achieve the perfect monochrome look, try using tan jubilee on your cheeks and eyes. It’s great for creating a cohesive makeup look.
Chanel Stilo Ombre Contour CLA
Was this Chanel Stilo ombre a contour in contour CLA one of my most-worn soft brown latte makeup looks? It’s very creamy and a cooler brown than I normally go for, so it very sneakily sculpts your eyelids like a no-shadow shadow. Apply it closer to your lash line for a more defined look.
2023 Makeup Favourites | Best of Beauty
NudeStix Magnetic Matte Eye Color
I often added NudeStix Magnetic Matte Eye Color to my makeup routine. The fig super creamy texture made it easy to smudge and soften for a beautiful chocolaty brown definition. This Duo became a key casual brown combo for me during the daytime. It can also be layered to achieve a more elevated look. Another favorite from the drugstore was the elf Sow Bud Shadow Stick in Copper. It was a winner from a drugstore dupes video, and I was so impressed by its lasting power. I loved using this taupey bronze as a lowkey, sheer wash all over the lid or closer to my lash line and under my bottom lashes. This product brought out a shimmery taupey shadow moment for me.
Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Contentment Stick
For a few months, my makeup routine also featured the Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Contentment Stick. It is a smooth, creamy, and pigmented rose taupe shade. It softens nicely with your fingers and is great for brightening up the eyes in a hurry. Sticks aside, the Merit Solo Shadows were also right up my alley this year. The Studio A taupe with caramel warmth and Social, a cooler, soft mauve, were on repeat for me. They are easy to blend and stay put all day. I am very much looking forward to trying the new Armani Eye Tint shade range and formula in the US soon, as I have heard great things about them.
RM Beauty’s Midnight Shadows
My most worn shadow this year was RM Beauty’s Midnight Shadows Matte Liquid in the shade BRB. It has been a trusty companion for me. Its soft tan brown wash adds a touch of warmth to any look. However, my current tube is on its last legs, so I am hopeful that the new shades, 20 or 22, will be a good replacement early in the year.
These were my 2023 makeup favorites and best beauty products. The NudeStix Magnetic Matte Eye Colors, Rare Beauty Contentment Stick, Merit Solo Shadows, and RM Beauty’s Midnight Shadows all played significant roles in my beauty routine. I cannot wait to see what new beauty releases and discoveries 2024 will bring.
Ariana Grande-inspired Perky Pinky Mauve
Thank you, Ariana Grande, for making this perky pinky mauve. This shade enhances your eyes with its rich pigmentation. But it’s more than just the color that makes it a favorite. It lasts well throughout the day, ensuring that your makeup stays put. It’s also worth noting that this product has a big tick of approval from me. As an added bonus, I have an RM Beauty code for you, so you can indulge in further Korean beauty exploration.
Kaja Beauty: Bentos and Glowing
This year, I finally tried Kaja Beauty, and I must say, I was impressed. The bentos and glowing products are a must-try. If you’re a fan of rosy shadow, then you’ll love the Guava trio. It features a muted soft matte pink, a smoky mulberry shade to deepen your lash line, and a pop of ros shimmer. These fine, smooth powders can be found on YesStyle. Don’t forget to use the code below to get your hands on this palette.
Bakeup Beauty Micro Palm Palette in Pastels
The Bakeup Beauty Micro Palm Palette in pastels has brought so much joy to my makeup routine. Created by the talented celebrity makeup artist, Joe Baker, this palette is pint-sized but full of personality. Whether I’m wearing the shades in my inner corners or using them as watercolor art like Suki Waterhouse, this palette never fails to impress. The pastel shades create a more subdued and sophisticated color scheme that truly stands out.
Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Sul
In a video on everyday makeup, which I enhanced for my birthday, I mentioned the Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Sul. This quartet of shades can be used as stunning solo artists or as a cohesive choir. It’s truly an awesome foresome. The unexpected hit, Lime Crime Greatest Hits Classics Palette, also caught my attention. I had never tried the brand before, but after reading that the rosy shade In Bloom was used on Riley Kio in the series Daisy Jones in the Six, I tracked it down. The cool rosy berry and burgundy tones of this palette make it a rockstar color story.
Dior Pump and Volume Mascara: Oomph, Length, and Lift
A mascara formula that lingered from last year is the Dior Pump and Volume. This mascara always gives me oomph, length, and lift without looking clumpy. It’s a favorite that I keep coming back to.
Remember, these makeup favorites from 2023 have stood out for their quality, pigmentation, and overall performance. They’ve made a mark in the beauty industry and have become must-haves for any makeup enthusiast. So why not give them a try and see the magic for yourself?
YSL Beauty Lash Clash Mascara
So often it doesn’t have much pump or volume left now. So I was blown away when I swapped to YSL Beauty. Lash Clash mascara in uninhibited Brown, the brown means it doesn’t look as heavy as black, but wow Next Level, length and volume, and it didn’t leave a spec behind when I sobbed through the film all of us strangers. So that was a real test.
Bobby Brown Crushed Lip Color
The lipsticks that hung out in my bag Bobby Brown, crushed lip color in Italian Rose. You will always be famous third year in a row here because it lives in my bag honestly could be charging rent its just my ultimate soft matte blotted, yet buildable boost of warm pink.
Chanel Rouge Cocoa Balm
Another laidback bullet was Chanel Rouge cocoa balm in natural charm. It was another sfia, Richie formula reminder she wore a pink to her wedding, but this brownie caramel nude, is more me, a slight kiss of color nice light feel and a satin matte finish, so it won’t slip around like other balms.
Chanel Roual in Admi MO
Apart from Italian Rose, the other Almost my natural lip color shade, I went for for natural looks, was Chanel roual in admi MO a neutral, mid, pink in their classic comfy satin formula, a little softer and quieter than some of my other brightening, my lips, but better Shades.
Merit Signature Lip Formula
The Merit signature lip formula continues to impress, a shining example of excellence in the lightweight sheer lipstick category. When I wanted a hint of Sandy nude in a swipe or two slip, delivered barmy buildable, truly comfortable for a hint of neutral SL, warm beige.
Shantai Lip Chic
Speaking of comfortable plus some soft shine, Shantai Lip Chic is effortlessly.
Chic First Fail
This formula had its first failed attempt about 10 years ago. Back then, I was completely disappointed with the results. However, fate had other plans for me. On two separate occasions, I found myself admiring the lip color my friend was wearing, and both times it turned out to be Sari Rose. Determined to have this wearable nude rose blossom, glossy lipstick for myself, I embarked on a mission to track it down.
The Year of Brown Gloss
They say that trends come and go, and in 2023, it was the year of brown gloss. One of the leading contenders in this trend was Lisa Eldridge’s gloss, Embrace in sorcery. This particular shade was a cool-toned, earthy rose with a touch of mauve. The formula itself is described as lush, cushiony, and nourishing. It’s a “my lips, but better” gloss shade that gives a natural and comfortable look.
A Deep Dive into Shade Relatives
If we’re talking about brown gloss, we can’t ignore Clinique pop plush creamy gloss in Black Honey Pop. This shade made a grand entrance this year and deserves a special mention for kickstarting the whole color theme. It has a slightly thicker texture, reminiscent of old-school glosses, but is still comfortable to wear. The beautiful red tone and clinging texture of this gloss make it an instant favorite.
Mahogany Magic
During my exploration of brown glosses, I stumbled upon a gem – Dior lip maximizer in Mahogany. This shade, particularly the gloss version, has an undeniable elegance that is both sneaky and understated. It can be worn on its own for a subtle yet captivating look or layered over a rosy lip liner for added dimension. The entire Dior mahogany family is simply breathtaking.
A Beauty Discovery
As I delved further into the world of brown glosses, I came across another delightful surprise – Joni Rose Perfecto liquid balm in Chilling Brown. This formula has been highly recommended by luxury beauty enthusiasts in the comments section of my posts. It combines the beauty of a coffee nude shade with the rosiness of red, giving a natural flush to the lips. The plush and slightly peppery texture only adds to its allure.
