Testing Rare Beauty's NEW Blush…

Testing Rare Beauty's NEW Blush...

Initial Impression

These have been going around all over Instagram and TikTok. I’ve heard many different opinions on this. So I received this in PR and I was like listen I’ve got to try this out for myself. Half of me is really excited, and half of me has some reservations about just this type of formula, it’s very luminous.

Comparing to Favorites

I really wanted to know how Rare Beauty’s new blush compares to some of my other favorite luminous blushes. It’s not like I’m against a glowy blush. It just has to have the right amount of glow, so we’re going to see how these look. I’m going to swatch all the colors on my face and compare it to The Hourglass and RMS blushes, which are some of my favorite, more glowy, baked blush formulas.

Packaging and Shades

There’s no denying that this is a very pretty product. The PR package looks fun and inviting. Rare Beauty launched this new blush in six shades and it retails for $26. Most of these are inspired by their liquid blushes, which we all know and love, but there is one shade that’s new and it’s actually the shade that I feel like I’m the most excited to try. Those shades are so pretty, but the question is: are they going to be as pretty on the face as they are in pictures? There’s only one way to find out.

Inspiration and Formula

From what I understand, this product was inspired originally by their highlighter, which is also a baked formula. It’s interesting to see how they translated that formula into a blush and how it differs from their existing liquid blushes. I’m curious to see if the luminosity of the highlighter translates well into a blush formula and if it will give that natural, radiant glow.

Exploring Rare Beauty’s Matte Blush in Cheer

This new blush from Rare Beauty has been making waves in the beauty community with its unique formula and stunning color selection. The shade Cheer, a light pink hue, is particularly eye-catching and promises to bring a fresh, radiant flush to the cheeks.

Initial Impressions

Upon first glance, the matte exterior of the blush is noticeably different from Rare Beauty’s signature glowy highlight. The texture appears airy and silky, suggesting a smooth application and blendable finish. The color itself is undeniably pretty and has a soft, subtle undertone that is perfect for creating a natural-looking flush.

Application and Wear Test

When applying Cheer to the cheeks, a small amount was all that was needed to achieve a noticeable color payoff. The blush blended effortlessly into the skin, creating a seamless, natural look. Despite the matte finish, the blush did not emphasize any texture on the skin, making it ideal for those with uneven skin texture.

The longevity of the blush was impressive, with the color staying true throughout the day without fading or becoming patchy. The fresh, radiant flush was maintained, giving the cheeks a healthy glow that lasted all day.

Overall, Rare Beauty’s Matte Blush in Cheer exceeded expectations with its easy application, smooth finish, and long-lasting color. The unique formula combines the best elements of liquid blushes with a matte finish, creating a versatile product that adds a touch of radiance to the cheeks.

Testing Rare Beauty’s NEW Blush…

It I think that looks really pretty, though this is the shade that I was most excited about, because I thought that it could act as more of a highlighter for my skin tone.

Cheer – A Radiant Glow

So here we have cheer all over the face. The next shade were going to try is Hope and again. The rest of these are inspired by existing Shades. Here is hope, this ones really pretty as well. This is also a nice like peachy pink, but you can see how it is a bit deeper than cheer. Okay were going to try Hope on the other side of the face just going to dip the same brush, I did wipe off the brush on my Sigma. Switch lets. Add this to the other side of the face. Okay, these are very, very pearlescent. The nice thing is theyre, very fine, so it does melt into the skin, but I feel like you have to build it up quite a bit to get like a blush worthy pigmentation, which is what I was wondering as well.

Hope – A Subtle Glow

I was wondering if this would work better as like a Topper versus an actual blush cuz. If you go overboard, I feel like, then it does start to emphasize any texture. It’s very pretty, but Im leaning toward this side. I, like it a little better and I feel like ultimately, it gives a very similar effect. I guess it has a little bit more of a toasted undertone, but there you have, it here is hope.

Testing Rare Beauty’s NEW Blush…

Swatched all over the cheek. All right, we have a clean slate. We’re ready to try more shades next up we’re going to try the shade Joy. This is a really fun shade in their liquid formula. So I’m excited to see how it translates in this formula.

Ooh, this one looks really pretty. I’m going to switch brushes, just to make sure we’re not combining any of the colors. We’re going to dip into this and start pressing this into the cheeks. Okay, this one since it’s a bit deeper, is definitely showing up a little bit more, since it has a more intense like face color that’s showing up. Whoops, I applied a little too much right there and things are looking wild. Okay, so I learned just now. First of all avoid the pores at all costs. Second of all, a very small amount is what you’re going to want to use. The more I try to build this up as a full blush, the worse it looks. But it looks really nice as a soft layer, at least that’s how I feel with this shade, so here’s Joy all over the cheeks.

Next up, we’re going to try the shade Love. Ooh, this one’s like a really nice terracotta Peach, let’s try this on the other side. I’m going to try to be a little more gentle with how much I apply. It got a little patchy right there, so I’m just trying to blend that in. Okay, I’m nervous to apply any more than that, especially around this area, so we’re going to stop there.

Trying Out Rare Beauty’s NEW Blush

As we dive into testing Rare Beauty’s new blush collection, the first shade we’re exploring is a beautifully toasted hue that adds a touch of warmth to the cheeks. The color blends seamlessly and leaves a lovely flush of color that enhances the complexion.

Exploring the Shade “Happy”

Next up is the shade “Happy,” a go-to pink color that is perfect for adding a pop of color to the cheeks. The vibrant pink base of this blush adds a fresh and lively look to the face, but it’s crucial to apply just the right amount to avoid emphasizing any texture on the skin.

Testing Out “Truth”

Finally, we come to the shade “Truth,” a deep berry hue that adds a rich and sultry vibe to the cheeks. However, due to its intense pigment, this shade can appear a bit patchy on lighter skin tones. With careful blending, though, it can still create a stunning and dramatic look.

Each shade in Rare Beauty’s new blush collection offers a unique and versatile option for adding a touch of color to the cheeks. Whether you prefer a subtle warmth, a lively pink, or a bold berry hue, there’s a shade to suit every mood and occasion.

Comparing to Baked Highlighter

I did want to compare this firstly to the reflect that’s in the baked highlighter to see if it’s actually as shimmery as a highlight or if it’s a little toned down. I’m going to take the shade Happy for this demo, it’s a very micro, fine, smooth formula. I’m going to build this up on the back of my hand, so we can try to get as much of a reflect as possible. Next, I’m going to swatch the highlighter in the shade Enlighten, it really is the same formula, just not quite as many pearls. At least it doesn’t look like it to me. I’m blending this in and you can see while it’s definitely glowy, the highlighter does have a little bit more pearl to it.

Comparing to Favorite Blushes

After comparing it to the baked highlighter, I want to compare it next to some of my favorite, more glowy blushes. I want to see if any of those formulas compare and depending on your skin type and what you’re looking for, which formula I would recommend. Im blending this in and you can see while it’s definitely glowy, the highlighter does have a little bit more pearl to it. This one has slightly less, it’s still a very glowy blush though. It honestly leans more highlighter, in my eyes, just happens to have a little bit more of like a blush base color.

Comparing Rare Beauty’s NEW Blush

So the next question I want answered is how this finish compares to some of my other faves, namely The Hourglass, which I know a lot of you, guys, love and then also the RMS blush, which is very glowy. But I really love this one so were going to see.

Rare Beauty vs RMS Blush

Actually this color is kind of similar. This is interesting were going to go into rare Beauty right here, going I get it swatched and then Ill show you up close how the finish is compare. So there is rare Beauty happy in the middle Im going to Swatch the RMS. This is a different formula, its more of like a gel formula, but gives a very similar effect.

Rare Beauty vs Hourglass Blush

I feel okay heres, that one which Ill show you up close, but I can see already its less pearly than the rare Beauty then were going to Swatch next to that the ambient lighting blush from hourglass, which honestly looks matte almost compared to the other two. Let me show you up close look at how these vary, so you can see.

Pearlescent Finish

While this one is glowy, this one does have more Pearl. So the rare Beauty one is in fact the most pearlescent whats. So interesting is how The Hourglass one looks basically matte. Next to these two Im really hoping this is picking up on camera, the way it is in person um, I love the RMS formula, it does have a little less reflect and the base of it is a little more smoothing than the rare Beauty and Im like Still shocked by the finish of The Hourglass, its basically matte in comparison to those other blushes after swatching, all the shades Im going to reset the cheeks and Im going to show you how I personally feel like this formula should be worn.

Setting the Stage

Obviously, there’s no rules with makeup but I’m here just trying to help you out and try to help you feel the most confident in your makeup, especially when playing with very luminous blush. A lot of us have texture here so I’ll show you what I have in mind and we’ll see if it works. I think it will based on how the formula looked when I swatched everything. So let me just set everything with powder.

The Importance of Setting

I think this is actually a really good point to make. You saw in one of the swatches, there was a part of my face that was not set with powder and the pigment of the highlight kind of grabbed in that area and looked a little patchy. So because this is a powder formula, I would recommend setting it with powder that’s not only going to ensure a nice blend, but it’s also going to help you not overdo the pigment when it comes to this formula, which is key. I learned the hard way with the one shade.

Experimenting with Color

Since The Hourglass blush was basically matte compared to the Rare Beauty one, I’m going to actually take this one and create a little bit of a color base lower on the cheek. So I’m going right here, kind of right next to the contour to just start to create a little something you can see. This actually adds a really nice healthy glow. So if you’re worried about texture being emphasized, a formula like this might be your best bet, but you’ll still get essentially that look that you’re wanting without compromising what you’re not wanting.

The Final

All right, testing Rare Beauty’s new blush has been quite the experience. The formula is indeed luminous and provides a healthy glow without emphasizing texture. Setting it with powder is essential to ensure a smooth blend and prevent overdoing the pigment. Experimenting with different placement on the cheeks can create a unique and flattering look. Overall, this blush formula seems to be a winner for those looking for a luminous, glowy finish. So, go ahead and give it a try for yourself!

Choosing the Right Shade

When testing Rare Beauty’s NEW Blush, it is essential to choose a shade that is close to your skin tone. This will help you achieve a more natural look and blend seamlessly with your complexion. For example, if Cheer is the lightest shade available, opt for that for a subtle and flattering finish.

Application Technique

To apply the blush, start by taking a small amount of product and focus on the apples of your cheeks. Blend the blush upwards towards your temples, creating a gradient effect. Avoid applying too much product at once, as it can be challenging to blend out evenly.

Blending for a Seamless Finish

After applying the blush, use a sponge to gently press it into your skin. This will help blend the product seamlessly and give it a more natural finish. Additionally, you can use a setting powder to blur out any harsh edges and further enhance the skin-like appearance.

First Impressions

So that it kind of softens any of those pearly pigments that may have accidentally gotten in that area, I just don’t like to have my pores emphasized with a highlight, no matter what formula it is. Okay, I feel like that looks really nice, but a little goes a long way. I really think that’s going to be the key with this formula and if you’ve tried it and you can’t seem to get it to work, maybe you’re just using too much. But I personally think this is really pretty. I feel like the right amount gives that glow from within, without looking too overdone.

Application Tips

I think this product, you could definitely overdo very quickly so make sure you’re using a light hand. From my first impressions, I’m actually more pleasantly surprised than I thought going into this. I thought I really wasn’t going to like this, to be honest, just because it was so glowy. But again, I think if you use it more toward the high points of the cheeks, acting as a blush topper SL highlight blend, which I feel like it is, it’s more of a highlight in a blush. In my opinion, with the finish, I think you’re going to really like it.

Texture Emphasis

With that being said, it’s definitely not going to be for those of you who do not want to emphasize texture, no matter what the product is. Any sort of pearly pigment, whether it’s in a primer or a liquid highlight or a powder highlight, if you put that over texture, it’s going to emphasize it. So this does have much more a pearly formula than some of the other popular ones that I compared them to being Hourglass and RMS.

Texture and Application

The texture of Rare Beauty’s new blush is something to consider, especially if you have concerns about your skin’s appearance. The formula tends to lean towards a more highlighted finish, which may not be suitable for those with less clear skin. If you prefer a smoother texture with less pearlescent sheen, you may want to explore options like Hourglass or RMS Beauty. These alternatives offer a different base that can help achieve a more subtle, buildable pigmentation without the need for excessive layers.

Layering and Intensity

When it comes to building up the color intensity of the blush, it’s important to be mindful of how much product you are applying. Layering too much of Rare Beauty’s blush can lead to a less desirable result, with the color looking worse as it accumulates on the cheeks. To avoid this, consider using a matte or brighter blush as a base layer before applying Rare Beauty’s blush for a pop of color. Alternatively, use a small amount of the product to avoid overpowering your overall blush look.

Shade Swatches

For a clearer visual representation of the shades available in Rare Beauty’s new blush range, swatch comparisons can be helpful. Seeing the colors lined up together can provide a better understanding of how they differ and which ones may suit your preferences. The shades “Cheer,” “Hope,” and “Joy” offer a different range of hues compared to “Happy,” “Love,” and “Truth,” allowing you to make an informed decision based on your desired look.

Impressions of Rare Beauty’s New Blush

I feel like this is actually really beautiful. The very fine pigmentation of this blush is quite impressive. You don’t need every shade, as tempting as they all may be. It’s important to consider which one will work best for your skin tone. Personally, I found the perfect match for me.

Blush or Highlight?

This blush delivers a perfect hybrid between a blush and a highlight without looking misplaced on the skin. For me, this will be my most used blush. I see them more as a topper than a standalone blush. If you prefer a straightforward blush, this product may not be for you as it adds an extra step.

Mixed Reviews

Some people love this blush, while others are not as impressed. It leans more pearly than most blushes, which can be a turn-off for some. However, I really loved it. I believe using it correctly and choosing the right shade are crucial for a beautiful finish. When applied properly, it gives a glass skin finish that looks stunning without going overboard.

Healthy Glow

This blush makes my skin look healthy, which is always the goal with makeup. Overall, I think this product has the potential to create a beautiful and radiant finish if used correctly.

Testing Rare Beauty’s NEW Blush…

When it comes to trying out new makeup products, it’s always important to approach with caution. Rare Beauty’s new blush is no exception. While I found the product to be really nice on my skin, I understand that it may not work the same for everyone.

Swatch Before You Buy

If you’re on the fence about trying out Rare Beauty’s new blush, I highly recommend heading to a store to swatch the shades before making a purchase. This will give you a better idea of which color will suit you best and whether it will emphasize any texture on your skin.

Use with Caution

Like with any makeup product, it’s crucial to use the right amount and the right shade for your skin tone. While the blush can look really nice when applied correctly, using too much or the wrong color can have the opposite effect. Proceed with caution when testing out this product.
