Skin Care I'm Cancelling in 2024

Skin Care I'm Cancelling in 2024

Introduction

I was doing a little bit of shopping. Well, maybe not shopping more, like perusing on the worldwide web, and I found a bunch of products that I was like. Oh my God, why is this coming out in 2024? I don’t want it. So I guess you could say this video is like an anti-haul. As the youngins call it, we got to save our money, y’all, the economy is just trash right now.

Fiscal Responsibility

The last thing we need to be doing is spending our hard-earned money on unnecessary skincare products. My personal goal this year is to spend less money on skincare because in years past I have just gone over the budget a little bit, but we’re being fiscally and financially responsible. This year is fiscal and financial. The same thing are those two words just the same.

Product Analysis

Okay, I did my research on this new product from Foro, which is a brand I love. They have some really cool facial tools that I have used many times in the past. But when I saw this new product, I was just like, what is happening to our society?

Why I’m Cancelling the Kiwi Blackhead Pore Vacuum

When I first saw that Foro was releasing their Kiwi Blackhead Pore Vacuum, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of dj vu. It reminded me of a trend that was popular about five years ago, where everyone was obsessed with using tools to suck gunk out of their pores. But haven’t we evolved past that stage?

A Tool of the Past

I can’t help but cringe at the thought of using a pore vacuum on my face. Over the years, we’ve seen the horror stories of how these tools can damage the skin. Not to mention, the Kiwi Blackhead Pore Vacuum comes with a hefty price tag of $130, which only adds to my confusion.

Effective Alternatives

Instead of relying on pore vacuums, I prefer to use a good chemical exfoliant like salicylic acid to clear out my pores. This ingredient is more effective at reaching deep into the pores to remove dirt, pollution, and oil. Not to mention, it’s gentler on the skin and more sustainable in the long run.

The Selfless Solution

For my daily skincare routine, I swear by the Selfless Salicylic Acid Serum. It not only clears out my pores effectively but also maintains the balance of my skin without drying it out. With consistent use, I’ve seen a significant improvement in the overall texture and clarity of my skin.

Exfoliants Over Fancy Poror Vacuums

An exfoliant is going to be way better for your skin than a fancy schmancy poror vacuum from Foo. Don’t know why the hell it’s $130! You can find much cheaper ones on eBay.

The Cosrx “Copycat” Product

If you really want to destroy your skin, ooh, this next product is one that at first glance I was like, “Oh, this kind of looks interesting,” but then, after looking into it for a little while, I was like, “This is a bit too much, a bit overboard.” It is the C RX AHA BHA PHA 35 peel.

I love me some Cosrx, I love their snail Mucin Essence. However, this product is very similar to The Ordinary peel. It looks like they’re copying The Ordinary. The red packaging to the blood red formula, it’s hard to ignore the similarities.

The Ordinary Peel vs C RX Peel

You might be thinking, “But I thought you loved The Ordinary peel.” I do, every once in a while. I don’t get crazy with it, but that one is $25 and that is strong. It’s one of the most powerful products I have ever used, and definitely the highest percentage of actives that I am comfortable with on my face. Even that is pushing it because I use that product maybe once a month.

Skin Care I’m Cancelling in 2024

High Percentage Products

But this one is 35, which is just way too high. In my opinion, I know a lot of times when we’re shopping for skincare it may look like a higher percentage is a better thing, but it’s not. Skincare is about moderation and often times the best results come with long term use of a gentle product. Now something like The Ordinary Peel is strong for once in a while, but 35 is just too much. Even The Ordinary Peel gave so many people reactions because it’s not made for sensitive skin. But I feel like 35, even if it does have a good ingredient list, is just way too excessive. I think for 2024 we’re in our healing era. We don’t need these super powerful actives, but rather just a good, consistent gentle skincare routine.

Expensive Alternatives

Also, this product is $19 and at that point, I’m like just buy The Ordinary Peel. It’s way cheaper, more gentle, and a really innovative product. They were the first to really do that type of formula. I just recommend that instead. Sorry Ker Ooh.

Bioma Sensitive Retinol Oil

This next product is shocking because it is from a brand I love and I’ve talked about all the time here on my channel. But when I saw this product, I was like no. I feel like just no. It is the Bioma Sensitive Retinol Oil. Now oils are really popular for retinol products.

Retinol Dropper Formulas

Some people really prefer them. I have always preferred more of like a serum or cream consistency for a retinol, but you know to each their own. Looking at the formula of this product I’m like yeah it’s a good formula. My main issue with it is that it is a dropper formula and retinol is already an ingredient that is very unstable. Now, of course, biom doesn’t use like true retinol. They use a more stabilized form of it.

Air and Bacteria Exposure

However, dropper bottle formulas are so exposed to air and bacteria from the dropper touching our fingers or our face, light exposure, and a bunch that get stuck up in, you know, the dropper itself. This is all fine and dandy unless you’re dealing with very unstable ingredients like retinol or vitamin C. These types of ingredients – I always just say it’s better to go for airtight packaging.

Stable Packaging

That really won’t expose the entire formula to sunlight or bacteria. I don’t know, I feel like I don’t see many retinol dropper formulas anymore. Like 5 years ago, there was a lot on the market, but I think over time people have adopted more stable packaging. For example, the selfless retinol wanted to make sure that with the packaging you’re only getting like a few drops out at a time. So it has the least likelihood of exposing the formula to light, air, or bacteria, while still being able to be properly recycled.

Nitpicky Concerns

Maybe I’m just being nitpicky, I mean what’s new. But when it comes to skincare, especially with potent ingredients like retinol, it’s crucial to consider the stability of the formula. Opting for products with airtight packaging can ensure the efficacy and longevity of the product. So, for me, retinol dropper formulas are definitely on my cancellation list for 2024.

Skin Care I’m Cancelling in 2024

After all, yall knew what you were signing up for automatically this product was a pass for me, which is surprising cuz. I love Boma, oh okay, this next product, you can, you know, hate my opinion, thats totally fine, sound off in the comment section.

Hero Cosmetics Glow Balm Radiant Stick

If you want to this more of a preference thing, but hero Cosmetics, just came out with their glow balm radiant stick, which is essentially meant to add, like a glow to specific areas of your face. Like the high points of your face, where youd say apply a highlighter and makeup, for example, which just kind of confuses me, cuz Im like just use a richer, moisture, izer.

Skin Fix Triple Lipid Barrier Peptide Cream

If I want to get my glow on and have a glow right here, I will always use the skin fix triple lipid barrier peptide cream, because not only is it incredible for addressing really dry skin, it adds a Natural Glow to it. Or if you really want to get crazy with a glow, just use a petrolum product like the cavey healing ointment, like on your cheeks, maybe a bit on your nose that will have you glowing and its just way cheaper. You get a lot more of it.

Fenty Skin

This product might be a little controversial, especially with my rant about the previous face mask but Fenty skin.

The Cherry Duah to Bright 5 Aha Face Mask

Just came out with an exfoliating mask, it’s the Cherry Duah to Bright 5 Aha face mask with salicylic acid and vitamin C. Again, it’s a very blood red type formula, but it seems to be unique from the ordinary mask, it’s a different type of formula. But when I saw this face mask, I was like hm.

The Exfoliation Power

The exfoliation power of this mask is very low, like 5. It’s just not really a high number, and I know you’re thinking higher doesn’t necessarily mean better. But the reason why I bring this up is because, if I’m going to buy an exfoliating face mask, I want there to be a dramatic before and after difference, feel like I really give my skin an oomph. 5 is what you will find in most exfoliating serums that you would use overnight regularly in a skincare routine.

Too Gentle?

This face mask is so gentle that I’m wondering why don’t you just use a serum and you can use that every other night instead of a face mask. Also, I bring this up because when I was looking at this product, I saw the before and after picture, and let me know if you guys can see something I didn’t see any difference. I was staring at this before and after picture that they have like on the main page of their product, and I was like I don’t know that it really like did anything. I don’t want to be a hater.

Face Masks

She looks absolutely beautiful. Her skin is freaking gorgeous to begin with, but I think that kind of just proved my point of being like. Why would you want a face mask that is so gentle that you could easily just find a serum and save you some money, but I do have to remember. People like face masks for the experience the aesthetic, the treatyourself feeling, but I really dont use face masks as much as I used to.

Exfoliation Routine

When you have a good exfoliation routine down like for me, I exfoliate my skin every other night. I don’t really feel the need to use a face mask like once a month. Maybe that being said, I would much rather use a product like an exfoliating mask gentler on my face than the causar X.

Better Alternatives

Exfoliating mask gentler is always better, but for 40 I’m like this just is not necessary, which is kind of a shame. Honestly, you will get much better results from just consistently using an exfoliant like the Crave Beauty caluya glycolic acid exfoliant. When I want a nice exfoliating experience, or even my serum from selfless the mandelic acid serum, I always use that one every other night to get that good, powerful exfoliation without sensitizing my skin.

Face Masks

I just don’t really feel like this face mask is necessary. You feel me? It seems like an unnecessary step in my skincare routine that I can do without. I’ve tried various face masks in the past, but I don’t see a significant difference in my skin after using them. Plus, the time and effort it takes to apply and wait for the mask to dry just doesn’t seem worth it to me.

Light Salon Boost Bib

Oh my God, this next product I rolled my eyes at. I think this product is stupid. It’s the Light Salon Boost Bib, which is essentially an LED attachment that wraps around your neck and decollete to provide red light therapy and prevent aging. The price tag on this product is mind-boggling at a whopping $500. They also have LED attachments for the face and eye patches that range from $300 to $500. When I look at products like this, I can’t help but think, when have we gone too far?

1950s and 60s Vibes

This product reminds me of the ridiculous ads from the 1950s and 60s, where women were marketed crazy machines and accessories to fight aging. Looking back, we see how absurd those products were. It’s like that classic I Love Lucy episode where Lucy buys all those pampering machines to impress Ricky. It just seems unnecessary and over-the-top.

Red Light Therapy

It’s not that red light therapy doesn’t work – LED therapy is actually quite effective. But do we really need a $500 piece for our neck and decollete, another $500 piece for our face, and a $300 piece for our under-eye area? It just seems excessive and a bit ridiculous to spend that much money on skincare products.

LED Light Panels

This is getting a little bit out of hand, especially when you could just get like an LED light panel, not like a filming or construction one. You want to get one thats specifically for skincare, but theres. So many on the market that you can set up to you know Target a bunch of different areas rather than needing to get like a custom. Necklace LED thing. Okay, what are we doing?

OMN LUUX Under Eye LED Patches

However, I will say: maybe this is hypocritical, but I dont know if you guys have seen those omn luux under eye LED patches that you like stick to your skin and its reusable. You just use like the sticky things on your under eye area so that you can like get work done multitask, while youre getting the light therapy to help with dark circles. That looks pretty freaking cool and I do want to try that. Let me know if you guys want like a fully dedicated, LED light therapy video, because Id be totally down to make it itd, be an excuse for me to try out the under eye mask oh wait. I got to save money granted.

ATORIUM Skin Care Products

I dont think the average everyday person is going to drop 500 on an LED mask, but even just the fact that its out there that its specifically targeted at that area, I just think, is a little bit excessive and then. Finally, the last one, which I was a little bit surprised to see because I love this brand – I regularly use so many of their products, but its atorium.

The Vitamin C Cleanser Debate

They came out with their vitamin C complex, cleanser and immediately when I saw this one I was like huh cuz. It looks very, very similar to their other cleanser that I absolutely love, but I was like vitamin C in a cleanser. I dont know how effective thats going to be, because vitamin C is great for having it on your skin for a long period of time to fight against dark spots.

Short-term vs. Long-term Effects

Dark circles protect your skin from environmental damage. You only have it on your face for like 30 seconds. How effective is that going to be, and then, when I looked at the ingredient list, I realized that the vitamin C was more so focused on, like the fruit extracts that they use like orange pineapple papaya. As well as two forms of vitamin C aboriculture, I dont know just seeing this product I was like.

Maximizing the Potential

I just dont see how Vitamin C in a cleanser is going to really maximize the potential of what you can get out of vitamin C Ive, always seen vitamin C as a more long term acting ingredient, rather than something where youll immediately see results in 30 to 60 seconds, when youre washing your face – and I think the reason why I was like kind of turned off to this product – is that atorium Marty has an incredible cleanser, the ni camide cleanser. I use that all the time and nide has a lot of similar attributes to V vitamin C.

Products to Ditch

I just see it as a much better ingredient for a cleanser than vitamin C. I guess I just feel like they’re too similar and with the success of their nice inide cleanser. I’m like why not stick to that one, but I could be better because I just love that nice inide cleanser so freaking much but yeah.

Overrated Ingredients

I would just highly recommend that one instead, oh my gosh, those are all the products I didn’t want to cover too many, because this list could go on and on and on. There are many products that I won’t be buying in 2024, but I would say these are like the main ones that really stuck out to me that I’ve seen ads about that I’ve seen people talking about that. I was just like now.

Alternative Recommendations

What do you guys think? I want to hear your thoughts if you’ve been eyeing any of these products or found other ones that worked really well for you instead of these.
