MAKEUP I'm Drawn To... and what I'm BUYING LESS OF

Makeup I’m Drawn To…

What am I drawn to and how has it changed over time? You know, some things that I would have just been like, “yep, I’m getting that,” I don’t always feel that way about it these days, or vice versa. Maybe I’m way more into something that I, at one time, didn’t really look twice at. So, I thought I’d go through this with you and we could start a little conversation in the comments section about how you feel about this as well.

What types of makeup products, not really specific brands and specific items, but what types of makeup are sort of your automatic things that just always draw you in, and one things. Do you find yourself just not really purchasing much of anymore?

Foundation Sticks

Foundation sticks are two big things at the start of this list. I love a good foundation stick. I mean, look at my Sephora haul. I had gotten the ABH one not long before that, the Ilia. Just looking at the top of my desk here, I’m into foundation sticks. Why is that? I think they’re incredibly practical. Part of me just also likes the experience of swiping them on. I think they’re very satisfying. I like the idea of, “here is my foundation, it’s in a stick, I’m going to swipe it on, I’m going to blend it in.” I like the process with them.

Also, I’m finding it really fascinating that, while you might assume this is a cream texture in here and it’s going to give me a lot of coverage, no matter what, I feel like there are a lot of different levels of coverage you can achieve with a stick foundation.

Foundation Sticks: The New Trend

Some are more full coverage, some do just kind of deposit more cream on the skin at one time, others, as Ive learned with the abh, its more of a moisture experience and a lighter coverage, some control, the shine a little bit more. Some are just velvety Across the Skin. There are a lot of good ones and theres kind of a foundation stick boom going on right now, at least among the higher end brands.

The Need for Drugstore Brands to Catch Up

Now, drugstore Brands need to catch up on this, for whatever reason in the drug store. It seems like Brands arent holding on to their sticks, with the exception of Maybelline Fit Me and maybe a random Foundation. Stick from Neutrogena like LOreal infallible. They had a decent one for a time, maybe several years back Revlon, I think, had one for a little while, but nowhere to be found anymore.

My All-time Favorite Foundation Stick

Drugstore needs to strengthen their game on the foundation sticks but Im guessing during the remainder of this year. We will start seeing more from the drugstore in that sense, but thats just something Ive, always drawn to um an early Foundation. Stick that I love that is still around Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, stick thats, actually a good one and they kept making it. It has that little core thats going to help you with shine, and I remember like being in a Kmart back when we had Kmart back in Western Illinois back in mome and being in there and getting a Maybelline Fit Me Foundation.

What I’m Buying Less Of

As much as I love experimenting with different foundation sticks, there are certain products that I find myself buying less of. Maybe it’s because they don’t suit my skin type or maybe I’ve just found better alternatives. Whatever the reason, I have noticed a shift in my makeup preferences.

The Allure of Fit Me Foundation Sticks

Stick and to this day there are still Fit Me Foundation sticks out. At that time, I would have been in like high school. The other big thing that Im drawn to makeup wise and both of these top two might have been things that if you’ve watched a lot of my videos, you could predict, but the multitasking palettes love to look into a multitasking face palette.

The Appeal of Multitasking Face Palettes

I think, while makeup is fun, and I like the experience of putting it on and I like cute things and blah blah blah um there’s, an element of practicality that runs under my makeup usage and like what I value you know, I like a practical product too. And I like the thought of a palette containing a lot of things that you need at once.

The Complexity of Creating Multitasking Palettes

However, it’s a very intriguing product category, because I think it’s very hard for Brands to get it right, um to put multiple things in, make it truly appealing to the masses. Does it involve putting out multiple tones? Are we going to do various Textures in one palette? Maybe not just powder but powder and cream. How do we separate creams? Is it thoughtfully and efficiently packaged? You know, like all the things are really intriguing to me.

The Challenge for Brands

I think it’s hard for a brand to get it right very easy for them to mess it up and a really good one. Recently, the hyper natural face palette from Natasha Denona, like they did a really cool thing where they did split pans in here, and that alone made it so useful for so many people, because it’s very clear what end you can go to.

Exploring Multi-Functional Makeup Products

If you need more or less depth and then the division of the shades makes you think well, that could easily maybe be an eyeshadow too. If I go into that little strip or that the split on the blush, something about that as opposed to even multiple separated pans, makes you think, oh a little toward this side, I make it lighter. It motivates the idea of blending and being the artist and going between the shades, as opposed to just like there’s one solitary color there’s another. You know what I mean so like good choices were made here. It was really impressive, but I’ll always be intrigued and interested when I see brands combining multiple things in one little home.

Lip and Cheek Combos: A Versatile Trend

Another thing: the lip and cheek combo products – and these are really hot right now. Because there’s tons of cream blushes out and some brands will double up and call it a lip and cheek, and I notice when they do that, and I really tend to think about whether it’s a truly good formula on both the lip and the cheek. So the reviewer in me likes to see if that’s pulled off well, but also, I really like the look when the lip and the cheek are closely paired when very similar tones are on both like it really creates a cohesive look on the face. I love the idea of multitasking, so doing more than one thing is cool in the practical sense, but it just looks pretty when you got that similar tone.

Persona Sticks

You know the Persona sticks. They do this really well, they’ve got a nice creamy formula. It blends onto the cheeks easily without leaving you too tacky there, but then it smooths on the lips and feels practically balm-like. That’s a really good double execution. Sometimes you’ll try something that says lip and cheek and they just threw that on there. It may work on the cheeks, but it feels dry on the lips because it was really meant to just be blush. Or maybe it’s way too tacky on the cheeks because it’s truly better as a lip. The things that can do both like that always intrigues me.

Cooling Products

I’m always looking out for cooling products. I love a cooling sensation. What is that about me? Why do I like the cold stuff? I also like wintertime, it’s my number two season after fall. I like the cool. I think it’s because as a young child, my mom always told me this. I remember being there, but she would say she’d take me into my sister’s volleyball games and I would just be sitting there sweating. Like I run hot, so maybe that’s why I like the cooling stuff. Even just this past weekend, I was in Ulta with the girls killing time in between the cheer competition and the awards. The guys went over to Lowes, but I noticed NYX had a little special display, and it was like a cooling moisturizer and some cooling eye patches.

Buying Habits

When it comes to makeup, I find myself drawn to products that offer versatility like the Persona sticks. I prefer items that can be used on multiple areas of the face with ease. The idea of a product that can work both as a blush and a lip color always catches my attention. It’s a practical and efficient option for someone like me who values convenience.

On the other hand, I’ve noticed that I’m buying fewer products that don’t deliver on their promises. If a product claims to be suitable for both lips and cheeks but fails to perform well in both areas, I’m less likely to purchase it. I’ve become more discerning in my buying habits, opting for quality over quantity. As a result, I find myself gravitating towards products that offer a seamless application and a smooth finish.

Face Rolling and Sculpted Skin

After my previous face roller cracked in the freezer, I invested in a new one, and I have been religiously rolling my face at night. The results have been quite noticeable – I feel like my face is actually more sculpted. Perhaps it’s not just the face roller; maybe it’s also because I have been consuming fewer jelly beans lately. It seems like a win-win situation – sculpted skin and healthier eating habits.

Lip Liner: The Quarterback of Lip Looks

When it comes to makeup, lip liner is the standout product for me. It has moved from just being another item in my collection to being the quarterback of my lip looks. Lip liner has the power to steer the lip look, making it the underlying signal for the rest of the lip makeup. Today, I am wearing the E.L cream Glide lip liner in the mauve shade. I paired it with the lip combo I discussed in a previous video – Ferris nude and the lifter gloss in moon. This combination creates a beautiful nude lip look, highlighting the importance of the lip liner as the base of any lip look.

Changing Preferences and Adjustments

As I navigate through the world of makeup, I am drawn to certain products while buying less of others. Eye patches have captured my attention recently, adding a fresh element to my skincare routine. Meanwhile, I find myself reaching for my face roller more often, enjoying the sculpting effects it provides. On the other hand, lip liner has taken center stage in my makeup collection, with its ability to elevate any lip look. With changing preferences and adjustments, my makeup routine continues to evolve, reflecting my current beauty interests and trends.

Makeup I’m Drawn To…

You put on, and then I find it very exciting to put different lipsticks or glosses on top see how it changes things. Knowing that putting the lip liner on first extends your staying power, especially especially, if you’re looking into Revlon Color Stay. Those have the best staying power. They’ve got a really good shade range, they’re retractable they go on with ease they’re the best and some might say. Well, if you really feel like you found the best, if you’ve reached the Pinnacle with a certain product, why are you going to be drawn to try and buying more of that thing, and I would just say that the Intrigue is still there. You know I absolutely love makeup, so yeah I’m going to look into other kinds, but I do think the Revlon Color Stay ones are really Elite and they will make a huge difference in your staying power all day long, regardless of what goes on top, they will stand strong underneath and if you’re wondering where to start get the one in nude it’s not like an erase your lips nude it’s kind of a deepen nude, and it works really well alongside lots and lots of different lip colors.

What I’m Buying Less Of

This first one that I’ll mention could have been in the top category years ago, but now it’s dropped down to what I’m buying less of – big big eyeshadow palettes used to be that if I saw a huge eyeshadow palette like yes, you know Think coastal sense 88 palettes.

More of Those Palettes

Give me more in those palettes. Can you go beyond 88? I want more that used to really attract me and now sorry getting majorly distracted by all the ins and outs in the room next door, but the only large eyeshadow palette that I’m really interested in. I want to know more about the moment. One comes out: are the mega palettes from Colourpop those? I love the gone matte, the bare necessities, the smoking hot, the stone cold fox. I love those.

Less Buying of Large Eyeshadow Palettes

I think they do an excellent job, but if I’m scrolling Ulta – and I see that like Morphe’s got some big eyeshadow palette – I’m just I’m glazing over at most large palettes now, then I consider something like this to be a smaller palette. I consider something like this to be a smaller palette: okay, um also, of course, quads and stuff I’m interested in using maybe some larger palettes that I currently have, but I’m not really into buying a bunch more this I’m wearing today.

More of Vintage, Jean Baby

This was one of those things I got during our little time: killing Ulta session um I’d never seen this in person, the NYX ultimate palette in the Vintage, Jean Baby. I’m loving those tones, and I really like their um neutrals on the warm neutrals anyways buying.

Less Buying of Eyeliner

I’m probably going to turn around and there’s going to be some brand that puts out a large eyeshadow palette. That just makes me Zone in on it, but the key word is less buying less of buying less of eyeliner.

My lack of intrigue in eyeliner

I find eyeliner to be the least intriguing product of makeup, unlike lip liner. If I find a good eyeliner, I’m not prompted to bounce around a whole lot, and the urge to experiment is just not really there. Perhaps the biggest reason why I might bounce around is because Ive been sent some in PR, but I don’t just go out in the store thinking, “What new eyeliners can I find?”

My affinity for shadow sticks

What I am into are the shadow sticks that I can use as a lazy liner in deep shades. Shadow sticks stand out to me, like getting the Laura Geller ones and using those across my upper lash line. Many times, brands put out shadow sticks in mid to light tones, but I look to their deeper ones because those can be the easiest to glide on and lock in staying power.

My decreasing interest in highlighter

Highlighter is also becoming less of an automatic step in my makeup routine. For instance, I’m not wearing highlighter today; I have on that new rare Beauty glowy blush in the shade Happy. I’m stopping to think in my makeup look, “Do I really want to add highlighter today?”, as opposed to it just being a default step. Additionally, with the multitude of highlighters being released, it makes me question how many different ones I really need.

My Current Obsession: Highlighters

One need like I’ve got multiple textures already, I’ve got multiple tones, I’ve got the pinkier ones, I’ve got more bronzy ones, I’ve got the champagne colored ones. Even if something comes out in a new creamy texture, a new whatever, like I’m not feeling like I have to have it. I don’t have that have to have it feeling with highlighters anymore.

Drugstore Brushes: The Real Deal

There was a time when all I used was Sigma brushes. Now, I’ve basically taken pride in the fact that I’ve almost fully transformed my daily use brushes to be all drugstore. You can’t just blindly reach out in the drugstore and grab some and think these are going to be good. You have to know; you have to watch Emily’s videos and know which ones are the best. But if you get them, you will be set. I love my Sephora 56 brush and I love my Shazo eyelash curler, but pretty much outside of that, I’m really excited about the fact that I can recommend to you so many good drugstore brushes.

Avoiding High End Brushes

The prices are creeping up on your drugstore makeup. You might as well spend less on the brushes. It almost seems ridiculous to me to sit and do makeup that’s already kind of costly and then say, “you also need to spend hundreds on brushes too.” It’s not totally necessary. But you’ve got to know what to get and what to avoid. So, I’m not really drawn to high end brushes anymore and you might think.

The Allure of High-Quality Makeup Brushes

Well, maybe a drugstore brush seems okay at first, but then the quality ultimately isn’t there. I’ve been using certain E.L brushes for years. Many washes have proven the profusion, some great brushes Real Techniques. There are some terrific things out there. You just got to know what to buy.

Drugstore Disappointment: Nail Polish Trends

I’ll link below to the video where I did a full drugstore face. Drugstore brushes, not looking for high-end brushes nail polish. Does anybody use regular old nail polish anymore? Remember when all the drugstore Brands had their nail polishes and now they don’t. Like there’s a little nail polish section in Walmart, but I never linger there.

A Shift in Nail Care Preferences

I don’t do nails an awful lot, and if I do, I like to use my mini L, mini Macaroon gel nail thing. Or I’ve got a couple of those. My friend Erica sent me one in a beautiful shade. Those cure like nail concealer, really easy, sheer kind of nail polish things. I like those, but I’m not really seeking out just standard nail polish.

Changing Tides in the Nail Industry

I’d like to know if a lot of you are as well, or is everybody getting manicures or doing gel or fake nails more? I remember doing fake nails more back in my Newsday, but I think they eventually caused some eczema on my hands. I’d be kind of slow to try that again, but I might. Yeah, I’m not seeking out just nail polish also.

Feeling Overwhelmed by the Variety

It’s hard not to feel a sense of overwhelm when faced with the sheer number of spin-offs and variations of makeup products on the market today. From different versions of the same product to countless dupes, it can be challenging to keep up and determine which one is truly the best.

Lost in the Sea of Choices

With so many different options available, it’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind on the latest makeup trends. The sheer volume of choices can be dizzying, leaving you unsure of where to even begin.

Questioning the Value of Dupes

While some makeup brands may try to replicate popular high-end products with their own versions, it begs the question of whether these dupes are worth trying. It can feel disheartening to see brands simply copying each other instead of coming up with something truly unique.

The Desire for Originality

When it comes to makeup, many consumers crave originality and innovation. Discovering a unique product that stands out from the crowd can be incredibly satisfying, compared to finding yet another dupe of a well-known brand.

The Hunt for Hidden Gems

There’s a certain thrill in seeking out hidden makeup gems that offer something truly special. Uncovering a hidden dupe or finding a lesser-known brand that exceeds expectations can be a rewarding experience that makes the search worthwhile.

Exploring New Makeup Trends

It was more of a treasure hunt that way you know now it’s like we’re looking at the little key in the back of the workbook and saying oh there’s, the answers. Okay, we all know them all right. Does anybody know what I’m talking about here? I don’t even know if this is making sense, but the obvious dupes, you know elf, puts out a lot of things that seem like they’re mimicking something from high-end that’s, not to say I won’t, try them, but I won’t necessarily feel the need to put out a video saying, Hey, elf, duped it clearly it’s similar. I guess we can analyze. Is it as good or what are the differences? I’m not saying these videos are totally unuseful but they’re. Just not exciting me. The way digging in your stuff and finding a random dupe just felt really cool for a time.

Limiting High-End Purchases

Okay, guys that’s my video that’s all. I have to share thank you for watching and let me know your take in the comments section. I will see you all again very soon.
