Low Buy Collective Haul! All the beauty/makeup stuff I bought from July through December ‘23!

Low Buy Collective Haul! All the beauty/makeup stuff I bought from July through December ‘23!

July: Sun Bum Face Mist

I wanted something that I could spray over makeup because I feel like this is a popular issue with sunscreen for the face, like you’re supposed to apply it every 2 hours or something. But how does that work? When you wear makeup, I think they sell powders and stuff, but I just wanted to see if they had a spray, so I went with this one.

August: Repurchased Face Cleanser

In August, I repurchased my favorite face cleanser. It’s a staple in my skincare routine, and I always make sure to have a backup on hand. This cleanser leaves my skin feeling refreshed and clean without stripping it of moisture. It’s definitely a must-have for me.

September: Neutral Eyeshadow Palette

I finally caved in and bought a new neutral eyeshadow palette in September. I’ve been using the same one for years, and it was time for a change. This palette has a great mix of matte and shimmer shades, perfect for creating everyday looks. I’m excited to experiment with different eye looks using this palette.

October: Hydrating Face Mask

As the weather started to get colder and drier, I decided to invest in a hydrating face mask. This mask is infused with nourishing ingredients that help to restore moisture to my skin. It’s a great pampering treat for those self-care nights.

November: Brow Gel

I ran out of my brow gel in November and needed to replenish it. This brow gel is great for keeping my brows in place all day long. It adds just the right amount of tint and holds them in shape without making them look too stiff or crunchy.

December: Lip Balm Set

As winter approached, I knew I needed to stock up on lip balms to keep my lips moisturized. I found a set of different flavored lip balms that not only nourish my lips but also add a hint of color. They’re perfect for the colder months when my lips tend to get dry.

Overall, this low buy collective haul may not have been filled with fun and colorful makeup as I initially hoped, but these are practical items that I needed or wanted to try out. It’s important to be mindful of our purchases and only buy things that we truly need or will bring us joy. By keeping a record of these items, I can track what is coming into my life and make more informed decisions in the future. Let’s continue on this journey of mindful consumption.

SPF Sprays

I purchased an SPF 45 spray during this haul, and while I don’t remember all the details about it, I do recall it having a scent similar to Banana Boat. Although I can’t provide a full review, I vaguely remember liking it, but I’m uncertain if it affected my makeup or irritated my eyes. I’ll make sure to use it again over the summer to refresh my memory. However, I don’t believe it was the ultimate face mist that I had hoped for back in July.

Additionally, I also bought the Neutrogena clear face SPF 50, which I simply needed for sun protection. I picked it up while it was on sale, and it has been working quite well for me. This one is a bit thicker compared to the K Beauty sunscreen I used before, but thankfully, it doesn’t cause breakouts or any other issues. Initially, I was slightly concerned about potential breakouts, but I’ve come to really appreciate this product. If it’s available on sale again, I would definitely repurchase it. I might have even used a coupon or taken advantage of Ulta’s sales to get it at a discounted price.

Eva NYC Main Magic 10 in1 Primer

After showering and washing my hair, I like to use the Eva NYC Main Magic 10 in1 primer. Without any product, my hair tends to dry out and become slightly frizzy. However, this primer has been a game-changer in preventing these issues. It’s been really effective in keeping my hair nourished and manageable.

Essence Extreme Shine Lip Gloss

I unfortunately bought the Essence Extreme Shine Lip Gloss. I have already used up a significant amount of it, leaving only a sheer gloss with a hint of shine. I was in need of a new gloss with a similar effect. I typically have a clear gloss in my collection, but I wanted something more exciting. Sometimes I wear it on its own, and other times I add it to the center of my lips, especially when I have a lip color on. I have always been a fan of affordable yet high-quality lip glosses, and so far, I have been enjoying this one.

LOreal Magic Root Cover Up Sprays

I have three LOreal Magic Root Cover Up Sprays in my collection. One of them is in the shade dark brown. I have spoken about these sprays extensively. They are my go-to when it comes to covering up any visible roots. They provide quick and easy coverage, ensuring that my hair looks fresh and well-maintained. The dark brown shade works perfectly for my hair color, seamlessly blending in. I highly recommend these sprays for anyone in need of a reliable root touch-up solution.

Moisturizing Hair Oil

I have been thoroughly enjoying this particular hair oil. It has a rich, oily consistency that effectively keeps my hair moisturized. The results are impressive, and I would definitely repurchase this oil. However, one downside is that it tends to leak. It’s not a major issue when I’m at home, but it makes me hesitant to travel with it. I did travel with it initially, and it wasn’t a significant problem, but I would prefer not to take the risk moving forward. This hair oil is best left at home to avoid any potential mess.

Root Touch-Up Kits

I go through root touch-up kits pretty regularly due to dyeing my hair. While I don’t dye my hair every single month, I like to give myself some space between dyeing sessions. These kits come in handy for touching up my roots, so I find them great to have on hand. In the period from July through December ’23, I purchased three of these kits. There was a sale going on at the time, so I took advantage of it. I know that these kits will get used up in a timely manner, so I’m not concerned about having bought three of them.

Revlon ColorSilk Hair Dye in Brown Black

In September, I bought four boxes of Revlon ColorSilk hair dye in the shade brown black. There was a promotion going on where you could buy two or three boxes and get one free. I’ve been using this particular shade for a while now, and I find it to be very affordable. The color is a nice brown black that suits this time of year, particularly winter and fall. It gives me a natural look, similar to my own hair color but slightly deeper. However, when spring and summer come around, I might switch to a darker brown shade to lighten it up a bit. Overall, I really enjoy this brand and I’m open to trying out other options as well. The drugstore has different brands to choose from, but for the price, it’s hard to beat the quality of Revlon ColorSilk hair dye.

July Purchases

In July, I decided to explore some new beauty and makeup products on a low buy. While I have used Garnier skincare in the past, I was open to trying different brands that were on sale. I ended up purchasing a hero product, the uh rescue retinol nighttime renewing cream. As someone who values retinol in my skincare routine, this product caught my attention. I had run out of my previous retinol serum, so I wanted to try something different. One of the reasons I chose this product was because it had a less intense fragrance compared to my previous one. However, I noticed that this product had a thicker texture, which initially caused some breakouts. Nonetheless, as time went on, it seemed to have improved. I will reserve my final opinion until I finish using it.

August Purchases

Continuing my low buy journey, I made no beauty or makeup purchases in August.

September Purchases

September was the month when I bought the S beats top coat. This has become one of my favorite purchases. I find myself constantly running out of it because of how frequently I use it.

October Purchases

In October, I refrained from buying any beauty or makeup items. It was a month of exercising restraint and focusing on using up the products I already had.

November Purchases

November was another month of no beauty or makeup purchases for me. It was a time where I wanted to appreciate what I already owned and minimize unnecessary consumption.

December Purchases

As the year came to an end, I stuck to my low buy mindset in December as well. I made a conscious effort to resist the temptation of buying new beauty or makeup products. Instead, I used this time to reflect on my previous purchases and appreciate the progress I had made in prioritizing mindful consumption.

Nail Products

I have been doing my own nails for a while now and I recently came across an amazing quick-dry top coat. This product has been a game-changer for me as it allows my manicure to look decent for a few days. Typically, I do my nails once a week, but there are times when I don’t have the time or energy to do them at all. Nonetheless, this top coat has been a staple in my nail routine and I have repurchased it multiple times.

Skincare Routine

Within my skincare routine, one product that I have been loyal to is the Coco Kind Vitamin C serum. When I finished my previous bottle, I repurchased it immediately because I didn’t feel like researching new vitamin C serums. Although it has a slightly greasy texture, once applied to my face, it feels like a nourishing moisturizer on its own. However, I always layer it with SPF during the daytime. The greasiness tends to dissipate and it sinks into the skin seamlessly. I haven’t experienced any issues with this serum, and it doesn’t have a heavy fragrance. Additionally, it is more affordable compared to other vitamin C serums in the market, making it a convenient repurchase for me.

Effectiveness of Skincare

Determining the effectiveness of skincare products can be challenging for me. I find that my skin goes through cycles where it looks really clear at times and occasionally deals with clogged pores. It’s difficult to attribute these changes solely to one skincare product. Factors like hormones and my monthly cycle may also play a role in these fluctuations. Despite this, I have genuinely enjoyed using the Coco Kind Vitamin C serum and it has become a consistent part of my skincare routine.

Jack Black Lip Balm

I recently bought a tube of the Jack Black lip balm. It has SPF 25 and is flavored with shea butter and vitamin E. While it doesn’t have a specific scent, it does have a fragrance that reminds me of CarMax or Cabbage Patch dolls. The smell is not overpowering, but it definitely reminds me of those things. I actually emptied one out recently and decided to repurchase this one. I could have gone for a ChapStick or something similar, but I was intrigued by the positive reviews of the Jack Black lip balm, and so far, I’ve been pretty pleased with it. Plus, the added bonus of SPF 25 is great, especially as we enter October.

Cotton Balls from Ulta

On a less exciting note, I also purchased some cotton balls from Ulta. Not the most glamorous item, but I prefer the jumbo size and then break them apart as needed. It’s just a practical purchase that I needed to restock on.

Lorac Pro Soft Focus Longwear Foundation

I also repurchased the Lorac Pro soft focus longwear Foundation from Ulta online. I had previously used it in the shade “7 Light” and decided to stick with it. This bottle might be close to being finished, but I like the formula of this foundation enough to repurchase it. It gives a nice, soft focus effect on the skin and lasts well throughout the day.

Foundation: Mid to High End

I decided to switch things up and explore a more mid to high-end range of foundations. After a few months, I finally settled on one that I really liked. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up purchasing it again, without waiting for a sale or discount. I’m planning to share a more in-depth review of this product once I finish using my current foundation.

Nacho Mothers Essential Moisture Conditioner

In need of a new conditioner, I opted for the Nacho Mothers Essential Moisture Coconut Milk and Agave Nectar conditioner. I didn’t feel the need to have a matching shampoo, as I’m not particular about pairing conditioners with specific shampoos. This is my first time trying out anything from this brand, and I must say, I’m impressed. The fragrance is lovely, and the texture strikes a perfect balance – not too thick, yet not cheap and watery. This conditioner is definitely a good investment and should last me a while, as conditioners tend to do.

Nail Buffer from Ulta

I also picked up a nail buffer from Ulta. Sometimes, my nails develop ridges on the top, and I find joy in using a good nail buffer to smooth them away. However, this particular nail buffer did not meet my expectations.

The Rough Nail File

This one is very rough, and maybe some people like that. I do not like that at all, but I guess it kind of is effective for getting those really deep ridges out. However, personally, I prefer a finer type of sandpaper texture for my nails. This nail file is a little too gritty for me. Despite having another nail file, I’m still using this one to file my nails. It was a free shipping add-on item, so it wasn’t a big deal. I think it was only around a buck or two, so it wasn’t the end of the world. But I definitely would not buy it again. Unfortunately, I forgot the brand of this generic Christmas product.

The Nare Face Cream Replacement

I bought a replacement face cream from Nare because the previous one I had worked really well. However, it expired and stopped working as effectively. This new cream is decent and does the job. I don’t really need to explore too much when it comes to depilatory creams. The one I bought in December has been doing its job.

The Wow 1 Minute Transformation Styling Cream

I also purchased the Wow 1 Minute Transformation Styling Cream, which is great for frizz control. Hair products, especially for wet hair after a shower, are usually fine. I believe you can use this cream on wet hair and then blow dry for better results.

Frizz-Free Hair with Sephora Hair Product

I have been struggling to find a frizz solution for my dry hair, especially when it is already dry. I needed something to polish and perfect my hair, and that’s when I stumbled upon a product from Sephora. Now, I usually hesitate when it comes to purchasing expensive hair care items, questioning whether drugstore products can work just as well. However, I took a leap of faith and bought this product, and I must say, I have been pleasantly surprised.

More details about this product will be provided later, but for now, I can safely say that I am thoroughly enjoying it. It has been doing wonders for my dry, frizzy hair, making it more manageable and sleek. Keep reading to find out more about this amazing product.

Flawless Coverage with Wet n Wild Incognito Concealer

Another item that I have recently purchased and been loving is the Wet n Wild Incognito concealer in the shade Light Beige. This is actually a repurchase for me because I truly adore this concealer. Over the years, I have tried numerous drugstore concealers, and while they were satisfactory, none of them made me want to repurchase or stood out as something special. However, this concealer from Wet n Wild has captivated me.

The coverage it offers is remarkable, and it stays put for a long time, which is a rare find for me. I have often experienced concealers fading away throughout the day, but this one actually persists. Currently, I am wearing it under my eyes, and despite the fact that my eyeliner has begun to smudge due to a long day, the under-eye area still looks flawless. I am truly impressed and find myself reaching for this concealer every day.

Throughout the months of July through December ’23, these are the two beauty/makeup products that I have purchased and have fallen in love with. They have become staples in my routine and have provided me with the results I always hoped for. Stay tuned for more detailed information and reviews about these products.

Drugstore Concealer

I recently purchased a drugstore concealer that has been a game-changer for me. It doesn’t cake up or settle into fine lines, but rather stays in place throughout the day. For the most part, I have no complaints about this product. It goes on smoothly and is incredibly affordable, costing only around five dollars.

Backup Purchase

I was so impressed with the drugstore concealer that I decided to purchase a backup. The only issue I have noticed is that the lid of my current one has started to crack a little bit. However, this only happened recently, after several months of use. Considering the price point of five dollars, I can’t complain too much about the packaging. It is something to take note of if you are particular about packaging, though.

Sephora Pharmacy Birthday Present

I received a birthday present from Sephora Pharmacy, which included a few skincare products. The set included the Honey Halo moisturizer, the green clean makeup remover, and the Honey Potion plus face mask. I don’t remember if there were other options for the birthday present, but I chose this set because I had always been curious about Pharmacy products.

Practical Product

The green clean makeup remover stood out to me as a practical product that I would actually use. I have heard great things about its effectiveness in removing makeup while being gentle on the skin. I am excited to give it a try and see if it lives up to the hype. Overall, I am satisfied with my birthday present and look forward to incorporating these new skincare products into my routine.

The Low Buy Collective Haul

Honey Plus Mask

I forget what the other options were, but yeah and so far theyre. Really nice um. You know Im not sure when Im going to get to use the honey plus mask cuz, I dont really do moisturizing masks that often I think I use this once um. I kind of prefer like more of a clay type of thing, but yeah that one seemed nice, its just like nice to try something different, especially from a brand.

Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Icon Set

I was always like hearing about so I went with that and I decided to cash in on one of their point perks. So I got this Charlotte Tilbury award winning Beauty icon set here, and this comes with um a sample that I actually used already. This is the uh Magic serum, Crystal Elixir, which is more of like an anti-aging type of product, which theres only three uses in this probably and to me: thats, not enough product to really know how I feel about it, but yeah that was part of it.

Charlotte’s Magic Cream

This is the Charlottes magic cream. It says it is a visibly aged defying moisturizer, with hyaluronic acid, pretty much like anti-aging type of situation, but holy crap. I didnt realize how expensive I mean it makes sense its Charlotte Tilbury, but its like 100 for 1.7 anounces. So, okay, but yeah in addition to like the Practical stuff, I thought it would be fun to try um. You know Charlotte Tilbury for fun and it also comes with um.

The Little Mini of the Pillow Talk 2 Lipstick

The little mini of the Pillow Talk 2 lipstick, which I tried once very pretty. I thought I was getting like the regular pillow talk, so I was like do I already have a shade like pillow talk too probably, but I dont have one exactly the same, so it works out um but yeah its really nice, like a deep ER, mauve kind Of color, but not too deep, so just like enough to give your lips a little bit of uh depth to it. So I really really like that.

The Original Pillow Talk

I was kind of excited to kind of get the original, but Im yeah. This seems like a really lovely product and I love the little packaging. How cute is that and its perfect, because its not full size – and I dont – have to worry about um increasing my inventory, with a never ending lipstick with that Sephora order.

Janero Boom Boom Body Oil

I also got this sold Janero boom boom Body, fzza Oil, which Im really excited about because I, like body oils and the alpen beauty Huckleberry. Eight acid polishing peel, which is a face wash SL, face mask type of combo product. So this is also my project pan.

Reflecting on My Purchases

It was interesting to see like all the things that I purchased within that amount of time again. I always like to keep track of that kind of thing and see what I go for and the pace of which I get things is always interesting to me as well.

Overall, my low buy collective haul from July through December ’23 consisted of the little mini of the Pillow Talk 2 lipstick, which gave my lips a subtle depth and had an adorable packaging. Even though I initially wanted to get the original Pillow Talk, I am satisfied with the unique shade it offered. Additionally, I purchased the Janero Boom Boom Body Oil, which is perfect for someone like me who enjoys body oils. Lastly, I tried out the alpen beauty Huckleberry Eight Acid Polishing Peel, a versatile product that serves both as a face wash and face mask. Reflecting on my purchases, it is intriguing to observe the choices I made and the pace at which I acquired these items. I find it important to keep track of my shopping habits and learn from them.

July

In July, I couldn’t resist the temptation and gave in to a few beauty splurges. The first item that caught my eye was a stunning eyeshadow palette from a popular brand. The mix of warm and cool tones was simply irresistible, and I knew it would be a versatile addition to my collection. Next, I stumbled upon a highly raved-about mascara that promised to give me the voluminous lashes I had always dreamed of. Without a second thought, I added it to my virtual cart.

August

August was a month of restraint, as I reminded myself of the importance of sticking to my low-buy goals. However, I couldn’t resist bringing home a gorgeous blush that was recommended by a trusted beauty guru. Its delicate pink hue instantly added a natural flush to my cheeks, enhancing my overall complexion. I also indulged in a hydrating lip balm that claimed to nourish and moisturize my lips. The irresistible packaging was an added bonus!

September

September was a month of self-control, and I managed to avoid any unnecessary beauty purchases. Instead, I focused on using the products I already owned, rediscovering old favorites and experimenting with different looks. It was a refreshing change of pace and a reminder of the joy of simplicity.

October

October brought the allure of spooky season, and I found myself gravitating towards a bewitching eyeshadow palette. The mystical shades and shimmery finishes had me under their spell, and I couldn’t resist adding it to my ever-growing collection. Additionally, I couldn’t resist the temptation of a long-lasting liquid lipstick in a deep, vampy shade. It was the perfect complement to my Halloween-inspired looks.

November

November was a time of reflection and gratitude, and I decided to focus on decluttering my beauty stash rather than adding to it. I sorted through my collection, passing on products that I no longer loved or used to friends and family who would appreciate them. It was a humbling experience that made me appreciate the importance of mindful consumption.

December

December arrived with a sense of excitement and festivities. To celebrate the holiday season, I treated myself to a limited edition highlighter that was adorned with sparkles and a beautiful packaging. It added a luminous glow to my complexion, elevating my makeup looks for all the upcoming celebrations. I also couldn’t resist the allure of a luxurious facial oil that promised to hydrate and rejuvenate my skin, making me feel pampered and ready to embrace the new year.

Thank you so much for watching. That concludes this video.

In summary, my low buy collective haul from July through December ’23 includes the Essence Extreme Shine Lip Gloss, LOreal Magic Root Cover Up Sprays, and the moisturizing hair oil. While the lip gloss has added a touch of excitement to my collection, the root cover up sprays have been a reliable solution for visible roots. The hair oil, although effective, tends to leak, making it more suitable for home use rather than travel. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchases and look forward to utilizing them in my beauty routine.

The low buy collective haul from July through December ’23 allowed me to explore new beauty and makeup products while also exercising restraint and being mindful of my spending habits. I learned the importance of researching and trying different products, as well as appreciating what I already had. This experience has shown me the value of a low buy approach in finding satisfaction and contentment in the beauty and makeup products I choose to use.
