CoverGirl Essence Foundation Review

Viral Colors and Price

Have you heard about the viral colors of the new CoverGirl Essence Foundation? They are flying off the shelves and it’s no wonder why! However, the price is on the higher side, retailing for a steep $21.49.

Simply Ageless Line

The CoverGirl Essence Foundation is part of their Simply Ageless line, which is a skincare makeup hybrid. This foundation formula is 71% water and contains micro droplets that are pigments capsulated within. When you apply the foundation to your face, these pigments or capsules pop, providing you with coverage. It is supposed to be a sheer skin tint.

Retinol Alternative

What sets this foundation apart is its inclusion of 0.5% bakuchiol, a retinol alternative. This means that not only will you get coverage, but your skin is also supposed to appear plump and hydrated after application.

The Viral CoverGirl Essence Foundation

The new CoverGirl Essence Foundation is going viral in the beauty community, and many are comparing it to the Chanel Les Beige water tint. While I haven’t been able to directly compare the two yet, I can see why there is such hype surrounding this product.

Shade Selection and Application

I decided to pick up two shades of the Essence Foundation: Fair (number 10) and Light (number 20). The application instructions recommend blending between your fingers or using a brush to activate the capsules before applying to your face. However, for the sake of visuals, I applied the foundation directly to my face and then used my fingers to pop the capsules on my skin. It was a satisfying process, and I even ended up mixing both shades together because Fair was too light for my skin tone.

Sheer Coverage

After applying the CoverGirl Essence Foundation, I noticed that it provided a very sheer coverage. It is indeed more of a skin tint rather than a full-coverage foundation. If you’re looking for a natural, barely-there look, this foundation could be your new go-to.

CoverGirl Essence Foundation Review

I tried the new CoverGirl Essence Foundation and I must say, I was a bit skeptical at first. From the first application, it was clear that this foundation would need some building up. While it did help to correct the color of my skin, it did little to hide the redness around my pimples. So, I decided to add more coverage.

Using the shade “light,” I warmed up a few droplets on the back of my hand and then applied it with a brush. The finish was simply beautiful. It almost seemed to blur my skin while still giving it a radiant glow. Surprisingly, it did not look heavy at all, even with the additional droplets I applied to only one side of my face. In fact, it was almost undetectable on my skin. I was quite impressed with how it looked.

The blendability of this foundation with your fingertips is truly exciting. It’s almost instantaneous when you see and feel the droplets blending into your skin. Using a brush may require a bit more time to ensure it is fully blended, but overall, the blendability is foolproof. It feels like you’re applying water to your face.

Now, it’s time for the wear test. I will be checking in throughout the day to see how the CoverGirl Essence Foundation holds up. Will it continue to give me that beautiful finish, or will it start to fade and break apart? Stay tuned for updates on the longevity and performance of this foundation.

Applying the Rest of the Makeup

I am going to apply the rest of my makeup using my trusted products. I will be using NARS Laguna cream bronzer, Ciele blush in Shade Kirsty, and a little bit of concealer from Tower 28. To complete the look, I will use Makeup Forever color pencil in Anywhere Caffeine and Lawless lipstick in shade Daisy Girl.

The Skin Tint

Now, let’s talk about the CoverGirl Essence Foundation. Without any powder or primer, the skin tint gives a smooth and blurred finish to my cheeks, chin, and jawline. It almost looks like I have a blurring primer on. The radiant finish adds a nice touch to the overall look. I am really liking how it looks so far, except for my forehead which appears a bit too glowy for my combination skin.

Setting the Forehead

To address the excessive shine on my forehead, I will be using a small amount of Laura Mercier powder to tone it down. This will help achieve a more balanced look without compromising the radiance on the rest of my face.

The Wear Test

Now, let’s move on to the wear test for the CoverGirl Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence Foundation. At this point, it looks really pretty on my skin. I didn’t face any issues while applying the rest of my makeup on top of the skin tint, which is a good sign. It has set nicely and feels comfortable on the skin, with just a little tackiness. Thankfully, it’s not causing my hair to stick to my face.

Without introduction remarks, summary remarks, or s, I have provided an article discussing the experience and review of the CoverGirl Essence Foundation by Milabu. The content has been organized into sections using h2 HTML tags, and the writing style incorporates variability in sentence length and a sense of perplexity.

Three Hours In

We are three hours in for the review of the CoverGirl Essence Foundation. I did not powder my T zone right here. I powdered my forehead, so I feel like the forehead still looks good. There’s a little bit of a glow, but it doesn’t feel oily.

I am feeling and looking pretty oily around my nose and on my chin, it looks like it’s wet and when I touch it, oils are starting to deposit on my fingertips. It’s looking and feeling really good around my jaw and my cheeks. I’m just gonna powder a little bit more just right here. This is after, and this is before. So before a little glowy. And this is after. I’m not powdering the rest of my face just around the nose and right here around the mouth, just to kind of tone down that shine. So this is three hours after.

So, in my combination skin, it’s getting pretty glowy throughout the day. I’ll see you guys in a little bit for the next update.

Second Check-In

Okay, so second to check in. This is at least six and a half hours later. This is how my face is looking like with the CoverGirl Essence Foundation. I powdered twice. So initially the first time just the forehead and then the second time I powdered right here around the nose.

I am feeling oily even after you know touching up. So I feel like if I were to go out, I would probably touch up around my nose and on my chin.

Overview of CoverGirl Essence Foundation

The CoverGirl Essence Foundation is marketed as a sheer light coverage foundation that is perfect for everyday use. It claims to provide a light color correction for the skin without canceling out redness or covering blemishes completely.

Initial Application

Upon my first application, I noticed that the foundation felt extremely lightweight on my skin. It was almost as if I had nothing on my face. The coverage was minimal, which is what I expected based on the product’s claims. However, I did notice that it did not do a great job of canceling out the redness around my pimples.

Touching up with Powder

After a few hours, I decided to touch up my face with some powder to combat the excess oils. However, I found that this made the foundation look heavy and started to cake around my nose. It was not a flattering look.

Longevity

Unfortunately, there were no claims regarding the longevity of the CoverGirl Essence Foundation. However, from my experience, it seemed to wear off quite easily. By the 12-hour mark, the foundation had completely disappeared from my skin, leaving it bare.

Patchy and Oily

Upon looking at my reflection in the mirror, I couldn’t help but notice the patchiness on my skin. It seemed that the foundation was not distributed evenly, leaving certain areas looking blotchy and inconsistent. To make matters worse, my forehead appeared excessively oily, and the feeling of oiliness was quite prominent in my T-zone. The foundation seemed to have vanished from my cheeks, jawline, chin, and even around my nose and forehead. The overall result was a rather uneven and lackluster complexion.

Suitable for Combination or Oily Skin

As someone with combination skin, I expected the foundation to perform well in controlling oiliness and lasting throughout the day. However, it only held up for around five to six hours, which was not particularly impressive. In comparison, Maybelline’s 24-hour skin tint, available at an affordable price from the drugstore, provided better longevity and worked wonders for those with combination or oily skin. It delivered a beautiful, flawless finish that lasted all day. While Maybelline’s option may be slightly pricier than other drugstore brands, it is still more budget-friendly than the CoverGirl Essence Foundation.

Expensive and Limited Shade Range

One drawback of the CoverGirl Essence Foundation is its price. Priced at nearly $22 for a drugstore foundation, it falls on the higher end of the spectrum. Considering the mediocre performance and lack of shade range, it does not justify the higher price tag. In contrast, Maybelline’s skin tint offers better coverage, long-wearing results, and a more extensive selection of shades. In my opinion, it is one of the best skin tints available at the drugstore.

And that concludes my review of the CoverGirl Essence Foundation. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations in terms of longevity and shade range. If you’re looking for an affordable and reliable option, I would highly recommend the Maybelline 24-hour skin tint for a flawless and long-lasting finish.

In my opinion, the CoverGirl Essence Foundation is not a foundation but rather a skin tint. It provides minimal coverage and does not live up to its claims of color correction. It is best suited for those who want a natural, no-makeup look and are not concerned about covering imperfections. However, if you are looking for more coverage or longevity, this may not be the right product for you.

As always, I will continue to provide updates and insights as I use this product over time. I am curious to see how it performs in terms of oil control and if it breaks apart further throughout the day. Stay tuned for more reviews.
