CONCEALS EVEN THE DARKEST UNDER-EYE CIRCLES?! NEW! MAKEUP BY MARIO SURREAL SKIN CONCEALER | REVIEW

The New Makeup By Mario Surreal Skin Concealer

Overview

Today we have a new product review. There’s been a few launches recently that I’m really excited about. Natasha Denona just launched a new palette, which I had to order, so that’s on the way. Patrick Todd is getting ready to launch another eyeshadow palette, and his cream bases with each one of his palettes have been practically perfect. Everything that I’ve purchased from Patrick Todd has been perfection, so I’m really excited for that new palette to launch.

But today, we are going to be discussing, reviewing, and going over the new Makeup By Mario concealers. These are his surreal skin awakening concealers that retail for 29 US Dollars and come in 22 different shades. I personally picked out two shades – 220 and 320.

The Concealer Brush

I also purchased the new concealer brush that Mario launched alongside his new concealers, because I can never have too many concealer brushes, and that is a fact. The brush has a unique shape that is wide and feels really soft. This shape is perfect for the under-eye area as it allows for precise blending, especially in the inner corner, which I’ve always struggled with.

The Details

According to the website, this concealer is meant to provide medium buildable coverage and conceals even the darkest under-eye circles. The formula claims to be effective in creating a flawless complexion.

My Experience

I was excited to try out the Makeup By Mario Surreal Skin Concealer and put it to the test. Upon application, I noticed that the formula glided smoothly on my skin. It had a creamy consistency, which made it easy to blend and build up the coverage as needed. I found that it effectively concealed my under-eye circles, even the darkest ones.

The range of shades available is commendable, as it caters to a wide range of skin tones. I appreciate that there are options for both fair and deep complexions. The shades I chose, 220 and 320, matched my skin tone perfectly, providing a seamless and natural finish.

Using the concealer brush, I was able to effortlessly blend the product into my skin. The brush’s shape allowed for precise application, especially in hard-to-reach areas such as the inner corner of the eye.

The Bold Claim

That is a bold claim, so we will see we shall see how much this conceals. This truly conceals by itself and alongside a color corrector, you guys already know it has a natural skin-like finish, and it is also supposed to be crease-proof and long-wearing. Its a self-setting formula, meaning that you don’t necessarily have to set it with a powder, but depending on the settling that we get in between fine lines, that will determine whether or not, but we will set this concealer today.

Vegan and Cruelty-Free

Its vegan, its gluten-free, cruelty-free, and it is supposed to visibly de-puff, tighten, and smooth the under-eye area. For a more awakened look as it is infused with caffeine and fermented Marine microorganisms that’s a new one for me, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that ingredient as one of the highlighted ingredients in any of my concealers so let’s see.

The Swatches

Now, here are the swatches side by side. This is the shade Number 220, which is light-medium Peach, it’s described as being light-medium Peach, and this is the shade 320, which is described as being medium Peach. If I have the option, you guys know, I will always opt for a concealer that has more of a peachy undertone because it’s just going to add to the brightening and the color correcting underneath the eyes. I’m gonna let these two swatches sit for a couple of minutes on the back of my hand, just because I know that they are self-setting, and I also know that they might change.

The Swatches and First Impressions

The Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer claims to conceal even the darkest under-eye circles, and I couldn’t wait to put it to the test. I swatched two shades – 320 and 220 – to see how they would perform. After waiting a few minutes, I noticed that the swatches didn’t seem to change much in color. This is great news as there’s nothing worse than a product swatching differently and leaving you with an unexpected shade.

Choosing the Right Shade

Since I had both shades, 220 and 320, I decided to mix them together as I felt that 220 was a bit too light and 320 was slightly too deep for my skin tone. I believe that finding the perfect shade is crucial for a flawless application, so it’s always good to have options.

Packaging and Texture

The packaging of the Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer is sleek and minimalistic, which I appreciate. The formula itself has a creamy texture that glides effortlessly onto the skin. I was impressed by how little product I needed to color correct my under-eye area, as a minimal amount went a long way.

Color Correcting with Huda Beauty

For color correcting, I decided to pair the Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer with the Huda Beauty Faux Filter Color Corrector in the shade Peach. I find that this shade works well to neutralize the darkness under my eyes. Again, I was pleased with the small amount of product needed to achieve the desired effect.

The Application Process

Using my right side as the test area, I applied the color corrector under my eye, blending it out gently. I wanted to compare the results with my untouched left side to see the true impact of the concealer. The color corrector did a great job of canceling out any dark circles, leaving my under-eye area looking brighter and more awake.

The Final

Overall, the Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer exceeded my expectations. It provided excellent coverage for my under-eye circles and stayed put throughout the day without creasing. The combination of the concealer and color corrector gave me a flawless, natural-looking finish. I believe that this concealer is a worthy addition to any makeup routine, especially if you struggle with dark under-eye circles.

Color Correcting with Precision

Using the medium tapered blending brush from Sigma Beauty (e49), I begin by applying the color corrector. This brush allows for precise product placement, ensuring that I focus on the areas that need color correcting. By blending it out, I create an even canvas for the concealer.

Perfectly Balanced Shade

The color corrector creates a harmonious balance on my skin. It’s not too light or too deep, just right. I pick up the concealer with the concealer brush and start applying it on the right side. I skip foundation because of the heat, opting for powder foundation instead. The coverage is excellent, and I appreciate how seamlessly the brush blends everything.

A True Test on the Left Side

Now comes the real test. With nothing underneath to assist the concealer, I clean off the brush and grab a little more product from the back of my hand. I apply the concealer on the left side, and the pigment is undeniably present. One layer is enough, but I decide to build it up for extra coverage. Instead of mixing half and half, I opt for a medium shade.

Concealing the Darkest Under-Eye Circles

The Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer works like a dream, concealing even the darkest under-eye circles. Its pigmentation is impressive, and it blends effortlessly. The coverage is buildable, allowing you to customize it according to your needs. Say goodbye to tired-looking eyes, as this concealer brings brightness and freshness with its flawless finish.

A High-Performing Concealer

I am impressed with the performance of the Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer. It proves its worth on both the right and left sides, providing excellent coverage without feeling heavy or cakey. This concealer is a game-changer for those struggling with stubborn under-eye circles. It delivers what it promises and leaves you feeling confident and radiant. Try it out and see the transformation for yourself!

The Medium Peach Shade: Minimizing the Gray Cast

For my under-eye circles, I decided to go with the 320, the medium Peach shade. As I observed, there is a noticeable gray cast underneath my eyes that I want to minimize. By building up the concealer with the deeper of the two shades, I hope to achieve a better result. I start with the medium shade and gradually build it up using a brush. I must say, I really like this brush. Oh yeah, this is much better! Can you see the difference? The shade has such a significant impact on reducing the under-eye gray, which is a common concern for those with dark circles, even for those who don’t have severe dark circles. We all experience it, right?

Setting the Under-Eye Area

After applying the concealer, I proceed to set the under-eye area. I apply just a little bit of my one and only trusty Oma Beauty trip and smooth setting powder in the shade translucent. I do this because I’ve noticed a slight settling in certain areas. So, I grab a bit of the setting powder with my Powder Puff, look down, and gently set it in place. Alright, it did seem to deepen the shade a little bit, and I’m not sure if I can attribute that to the color corrector or to the concealer itself. But whatever the case may be, it looks good so far.

The Look and Feel

The Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer promises to conceal even the darkest under-eye circles. Upon initial application, the concealer looks good and appears to have a natural finish. It looks hydrated and smooth, but there is a hint of uncertainty will it really stay in place or move around?

Similar to Laura Mercier

The formula of the Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer reminds me of the Laura Mercier liquid concealer. While the Laura Mercier concealer is slightly more matte, both products share a similar grip in the finish. This grip gives the concealer a textured feel, making it unclear if it will settle well under the eyes.

The Final Test

To determine if it’s the concealer or corrector that gives a deeper look when set with a translucent powder, I decided to set the left side of my face with powder. I blended everything out to ensure a seamless finish.

Zooming In for a Closer Look

Now that everything is set, I can give you a closer look at the results. Upon closer inspection, the right side appears to be more concealed than the left. It’s evident that the concealer has provided better coverage on this side, compared to the other.

While the Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer seems to live up to its claims of concealing even the darkest under-eye circles, there is still an air of uncertainty. The texture and feel of the concealer make it difficult to predict if it will truly stay in place throughout the day.

First Impression

The Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer claims to conceal even the darkest under-eye circles. However, upon initial application, I can’t help but notice that it gives off a slightly orange tint. Despite this, both of my under-eye areas appear to be well-covered.

The Application Process

After applying the concealer, I decide to step off camera to finish the rest of my makeup. Once I return, it’s time to continue with the day. As of now, it is 9:01 in the morning, and I will check in again in a few hours to observe the concealer’s performance under natural lighting.

The Midday Check-In

I apologize for being later than expected, but it is currently 2:30 in the afternoon. Taking a closer look at my under-eye area, it appears relatively unaffected. I am bringing you in as close as possible to give you an accurate idea of the concealer’s performance. Under natural lighting, the concealer has not moved or broken up, which is commendable. However, it does seem a little dry, in my opinion. Nevertheless, it has not faded, and my under-eye area remains completely concealed.

The Wear Test

I have been wearing the new Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer for several hours now, and I must say, I am quite impressed. I plan on wearing it for a few more hours to see how it holds up throughout the day and if it truly lives up to its claim of concealing even the darkest under-eye circles.

The Final Check-In

It is now 4:50 PM, and I am back for my final check-in of the day. After wearing the concealer for the entire day, I am ready to wash it off before heading to the gym. I usually dislike wearing makeup while working out, but I wanted to put this concealer to the test.

A Closer Look

Before giving my final thoughts on this concealer, let’s take a close-up look at how it performed after approximately eight hours of wear. On one side, I color corrected the under-eye area, and on the other side, I did not.

The Dryness Factor

Upon closer examination, the concealer does appear a bit dry, especially on the left side. It also feels slightly dry under the eyes. To combat this issue in the future, I plan on pairing it with my Smashbox and Becca corrector to minimize the dryness.

The Finish

In terms of the finish, the concealer does provide decent coverage, but it is not entirely flawless. It leaves a slightly matte finish on the skin, which may not be suitable for those who prefer a more dewy look. However, it does a commendable job of concealing under-eye circles, even the darkest ones.

Longevity

Throughout the day, the concealer has held up reasonably well. It has not creased or faded significantly, which is a positive attribute. However, it is worth mentioning that I have normal to dry skin, so the performance may vary for those with different skin types.

Buildable Coverage, But with Drawbacks

The Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer claims to be a game-changer for anyone dealing with dark under-eye circles. While it does offer a nice natural finish, it falls short in a few areas.

One of the main drawbacks of this concealer is its tendency to settle into fine lines. If you have severe dark circles, you’ll need to build up the product, which can exacerbate this issue. Additionally, it feels a bit heavy on the skin, which can be uncomfortable for some.

A Dry and Noticeable Feel

One reviewer notes that during application, the concealer felt heavy and noticeable. However, after mentioning this out loud, it seemed to alleviate the heaviness. That being said, the formula tends to leave a dry feeling on the skin, even when set with powder.

Without any other factors contributing to dryness, it seems that this concealer could be the cause. Pairing it with hydrating correctors may help mitigate this issue, so it’s worth experimenting with different products to find the best combination.

Not Perfect, But Still Has Potential

While this concealer may not be the holy grail for everyone, it’s not a complete dud either. If you have minimal darkness under your eyes, you’ll likely achieve full coverage with only a small amount of product.

The key to avoiding the heavy, noticeable feel is to use a minimal amount of the concealer and set it with powder. This can help achieve a more comfortable and natural finish.

The Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer has its pros and cons. While it has the potential to effectively conceal under-eye circles, it falls short in terms of comfort and longevity. It may be a suitable option for those with minimal darkness, but those with more severe circles may need to look elsewhere for a better solution.

Buildable Coverage, But a Bit Heavy

If you need to build up the coverage with the Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Concealer, be aware that it might feel a little heavy on your skin. It has a tendency to settle, which means you’ll have to set it with powder. However, setting it can also cause it to feel a little dry. This is why I find myself on the fence about this product. It delivers great coverage, but there are some drawbacks to consider.

A Nice Shade Range

The shade range of this concealer is quite nice, with 22 options to choose from. I particularly love that many of the shades have peachy undertones. This shows that the creator really wanted to ensure that everyone could successfully conceal their dark under-eye circles. It’s thoughtful and inclusive. I appreciate the effort put into making sure there’s a shade for every skin tone.

Conceals Very Dark Circles

If you have very dark circles, this concealer has the potential to effectively camouflage them. However, as previously mentioned, you may need to build up the coverage to achieve this. Additionally, setting the concealer can make it feel a bit dry on your under-eye area. It’s something to keep in mind if you have dry skin or prefer a more moisturizing formula.

Continued Testing and Experimentation

I’m willing to continue experimenting with this concealer. The way I wore it today was good, but not great. I believe there’s potential to make it look amazing with the help of a different corrector or primer. I will continue to play around with application techniques and layering products to achieve the desired effect.
