All The Beauty & Skincare Products I Got In February (Beauty Over 50)

Skincare Purchases

I purchased four items from the brand prequel, a new launch by Dr. Sam Ellis, a dermatologist who created elegant and affordable formulas for all skin types. The brand includes a vitamin C serum, sunscreen, body lotion, and a giant cleanser called Glen ER, which is glycerin-based. I personally use this as a second cleanse and find it gentle and effective for all skin types.

Hair Care Products

In addition to skincare, I also invested in some new hair care products to keep my locks looking healthy and vibrant. I discovered a new shampoo and conditioner that are specifically formulated for mature hair, helping to nourish and strengthen from root to tip. These products have made a noticeable difference in the texture and shine of my hair.

Makeup Essentials

While I focus primarily on skincare, I also like to experiment with makeup from time to time. This month, I added a few key products to my collection, including a hydrating primer, long-lasting foundation, and a versatile eyeshadow palette. These items have helped me achieve a natural, radiant look that enhances my features without feeling heavy or overdone.

Beauty Tools

Lastly, I invested in some new beauty tools to elevate my skincare and makeup routines. I purchased a facial roller to help with lymphatic drainage and reduce puffiness, as well as a set of high-quality makeup brushes for flawless application. These tools have become essential parts of my daily beauty regimen, adding a touch of luxury and pampering to my self-care routine.

Vitamin C Formula

She launched a new vitamin C formula with liscorbic acid at 15, considered the gold standard in vitamin C products. I have been using it and found no irritation. The texture is slightly runny, with a typical vitamin C odor. It sinks into the skin well and compares favorably to my previous Holy Grail vitamin C product from Dermatology.

Antioxidant Inclusion

Instead of using vitamin E as the antioxidants, she included Ergothionine, another powerful antioxidant. This different choice may appeal to those with slightly normal to dry skin, offering a unique twist on the traditional formula. Those with oily skin may prefer the vitamin C product from Dermatology for its less viscous consistency.

Sunscreen

In addition to the vitamin C formula, she also introduced a new sunscreen product. This new addition to the skincare line offers an added layer of protection from the sun’s harmful rays, perfect for maintaining healthy skin in the over 50 age group.

February Beauty & Skincare Haul

This month, I splurged on some new beauty and skincare products to add to my collection. I can’t wait to try them all and see how they work for my over 50 skin.

Mineral Sunscreen Review

I recently picked up a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen with SPF 50. I’m planning on doing a full video review on sunscreens, including chemical and mineral options. I’m on a mission to find the perfect mineral sunscreen this year, and I’m excited to test this one out. It contains 18% zinc oxide and antioxidants, promising great protection for my skin.

Skin Protectant Cream

Another product I purchased is a skin protectant cream aimed at relieving dry, itchy, eczema-prone skin. This cream contains 1% colloidal oatmeal and is said to be very effective. I haven’t tried it yet, as I’m currently testing various body lotions for an upcoming video on body care. I can’t wait to see how this cream fares on my skin.

Skin Proud Brand Review

I recently received products from a new-to-me brand called Skin Proud. They sent me their velvet cleanser, chemical sunscreen, and a toner containing 5% lactic acid and glycolic acid. I’m considering reviewing these products for our mature beauty community, and would love your feedback. If you’re interested in seeing a review of these products, make sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell for future updates.

Skincare Serum Purchase

I recently purchased a skincare serum from niad, their copper Amino Isolate serum. I have been using this product for at least 60 days now, and I have decided to repurchase it to continue using it for a full 3 to 6 months.

My Experience with Copper Peptides

In the past, I have mentioned that copper peptides haven’t really done much for my skin. However, I wanted to try a dedicated copper peptide formula to see if the ingredient does anything for mature skin. So far, the jury is still out on this.

50% Off Sale

Niad was having a 50% off sale, so I decided to take advantage of it and buy the larger jar of the copper Amino Isolate serum. If you have used this product before, I would love to hear your feedback.

Copper Peptides Trend

Copper peptides are a trending skincare ingredient once again in 2024. They seem to be popping up in various skincare products. If you are considering trying copper peptides, I would recommend trying a dedicated formula to see how it works for your skin.

Share Your Thoughts

If you have any experience with copper peptides for mature skin, I would love to hear your thoughts. As for me, I am still undecided on their effectiveness. Feel free to share your feedback and insights on this trending skincare ingredient.

PR Products Received

I also received in PR the clean dissolvable eye masks. The concept of a dissolvable eye mask is intriguing to me, especially since I love my reusable eye masks. The ingredients in this mask seem to be mostly hydrating, with Irish moss glucon pumpkin seed, Niacinamide for brightening, and turmeric for dark spots.

Niche Beauty Labs Theride Camide Treatment

Niche Beauty Labs sent me their Theride Camide Treatment, which is a favorite serum for many in 2023. This will be my first product from this brand, and it includes 3 serums – Ectoin, a trending antioxidant, and Ssea at 1. It promises to be moisturizing and hydrating, and I am looking forward to incorporating it into my skincare routine.

Dermatology Beauty Products

Super excited to try! One of my 2023 favorites, Dermatology, recently sent me a couple of their new launches – the Barrier Repair Mask and their Body Retinol Cream. The Barrier Repair Mask is amazing, a little more emollient than the Peptide Night Cream, which I also adore. If you’re looking for something slightly more occlusive, this mask includes more oils and ceramides. Highly recommend this new launch from Dermatology!

Retinol Skincare

I’ve already used quite a bit of the Barrier Repair Mask and I’m looking forward to finishing it up – great for my dry winter skin. I’ve also just started using their Retinol Body Complex Cream, which is a must for mature skin. Stay tuned for a video later this spring or early summer on ranking body retinols for you guys!

Mineral Sunscreens

As mentioned earlier, it’s time to review sunscreens for the upcoming season. I purchased three mineral sunscreens – one by Good Molecules, one by Bubble called Solar Mate, and one by Kinship, their Self Reflect. Excited to try these out and find my perfect mineral sunscreen for 2024!

Exponent Skincare Serum

Exponent sent me their Activated Serum, a 10% Vitamin C serum that you mix as you need it. Can’t wait to see the results of this serum on my skin! Stay tuned for updates on how it works for me.

Vitamin C Serum

As we know, elsc corbic, acid, vitamin C is pretty unstable and it can oxidize fairly easy. So the concept is very similar to the drunk elephant that you mix it when you need it so that it stays fresher for longer. I was not a fan of the drunk elephant formula because it actually never really mixed well, it always had that sort of granular feel to it and Im not going to be able to recommend this. Nor am I going to be able to try this because there was some packaging issues when it arrived it had already leaked and the serum one of the serums is already leaked out into the box. So first I just dont like the concept of this kind of mix. It yourself do it yourself, because it doesnt feel to me, like the serum, gets mixed evenly so thats my experience with the drunk elephant and, unfortunately, the packaging in this just didnt make it intact. So I wont be trying this formula if youve tried this, please let me know or if you like, the idea or the concept of mixing your own vitamin C fresh. Let me know and Ill seek out another brand or perhaps ask them to resend this kit. So let me know what you think about that.

Skincare Devices

I received two skincare devices this month. This is the pro wand, high frequency device. High frequency is often used to help with acne. It helps decrease the bacteria on your skin, its used using argon at a high frequency rate to help diminish bacteria.

High Frequency Device

Now they also say that this can help penetrate your skincare ingredients. I have never actually used a high-frequency device, except when I was in training. So if you’d like me to review this, let me know.

Skincare Tool

The second skincare device is actually a skincare tool. I’ve been wanting to reintroduce micro-needling into my skincare routine. Now that I’ve fully repaired my barrier but I’ve been on the fence about which device or which tool to use. I have a pen, but that always seems a bit aggressive and there’s a lot of talk about the rollers causing drag and skin tearing. That was what I was using, but I’m a little bit nervous to go back to that. Then I looked into getting a stamp and then I have the whole disposable issue with the stamp because they only last for so long, then you have to throw them out and repurchase them. So I was in a bit of a quander about how I want to introduce Micron needling back into my routine.

Micro Infusion Set

So A Cure sent me their micro infusion set. You’ve probably seen this on YouTube, it’s being heavily promoted by several dermatologists. There are some reviews, both pro and con, but I was considering starting this because it comes with individual micro-needling heads at 5mm, which is a little bit beyond cosmetic micro-needling, which is 0.3 millimeters. It also comes with the ampule already ready to go. It is disposable, but I thought it might be a nice reintroduction of my Gren needling back into my skincare routine.

Introduction to Menopausal Skincare Kit

If you’ve tried the system, let me know if you’d like a review. I recently received a wonderful set by women. They come from the perspective of menopausal skincare, so they sent me this kit with a beautiful letter. The kit contains about five or six products that I’m really curious to try.

Products in the Kit

They have an overnight magic moisturizer for nighttime called Clean Slate, which is their creamy, gentle facial cleanser. Brighten Up is their two-in-one exfoliating toner, The Works is their all-over body cream. They also have a neck cream and a vitamin C serum.

Unique Approach to Skincare

Any skincare brand wouldn’t be complete without a vitamin C serum these days, but they have a full skincare line dedicated to women in menopause. I think this is a really unique and interesting way to approach skincare. Whether their ingredient decks are any different than regular skincare brands, we’re going to do a deep dive into this brand and I will report back to you.

SEMA Exfoliating Towel

In addition to the skincare kit, I also received the SEMA exfoliating towel. This has definitely replaced the one that I got from Target, which was a bit rougher. I popped this into my shower the first week that I got it and I love it. It’s very gentle. I have rough and bumpy skin on my back at all times, so I always use an exfoliating towel to get that area that I can’t quite reach.

Exfoliating Towel

These are gentle, they exfoliate. They also have this antimicrobial feature. I never worry about it. Getting moldy in the shower. So I absolutely love this exfoliating towel if you’re looking for a good one, this is a great one in hair care.

Oppress Kit

I received the oppress kit. I’ve been so excited to try this. You know how love the living proof Bond repair. This is another concept of bond repair, but it’s a spray. You empty the contents of the spray into the bottle and add water use it 10 minutes before washing your hair, and it also could be combined with your oil treatment.

OGX Argan Oil

I always use a pre treat hair oil overnight before hair wash day. I’ve been talking for the last 6 months about how much I love the miracle: the coconut Miracle Oil by OGX I recently purchased, because this is completely empty. The new argan oil by OGX so I’m curious how they compare, but I always saturate my hair in a pre treat oil before wash day because it just makes my hair so much more manageable it just my dry, brittle gray. Hair is just softer. It curls better and I love using a hair oil overnight and what I’m excited about is you can use the oppress system with your overnight treatment. You just put this on spray, this in your hair, 10 minutes before shampooing, and it helps with Bond repair. So super excited that these two can work together.

Coco and Eve

Another one of your 2023 faves was Coco and Eve.

New Retinol and Honey Shampoo and Conditioner

I received their new retinol and honey shampoo and conditioner. I’m not quite sure what retinol is going to do for our hair. I have tried this a couple of times and I will have to say the shampoo is more of a cream-based shampoo, it doesn’t lather at first I thought. Maybe I was just putting too much of my pre-treat oil in and I just had to do some extra washes. It really doesn’t matter how much I wash my hair or how many times I wash it. This is just a very creamy shampoo, it’s a very different experience, and the conditioner is pretty much the same as most conditioners. I’m going to use this several more times before I give you my final opinion, and I also want to do a little bit of research on the benefits of Retinol for your hair.

Cesium Professional Hair Growth System

I picked up another box of the cesium professional hair growth system. This is a growth factor system that I incorporate into my hair growth journey, which is going to have a huge update coming in a few weeks. So if you’re interested in hair growth and hair loss, definitely look out for that video in about 3 or 4 weeks.

Eyeliners for Mature Eyes

I purchased four eyeliners this month for a video that I did on the eight beginner mistakes for mature eyes.

Nyx Eyeliner in Black

I love the Nyx. This is in Black, it goes on creamy. It goes on smoothly now I wouldn’t pick black for my small mature eyes, but I was searching for a brightening eyeliner for the lower water line, and I have to tell you the one by Colourpop was a dud. Not all that fond of the fake awake by Tarte; it’s a little more matte and kind of drags a little bit. My favorite one was by Makeup Forever. This is their Aqua, resist color pencil in the color sand. I love this for brightening up my eyes. I place it in the lower waterline to give me a more awake and bright look to my small recessed eyes.

Tarte Trending Bundle

The fake awake liner came in a trending bundle by Tarte, along with their tubing mascara and their lip plumper. So I bought that little bundle. I haven’t tried the lip plumper yet, and I’m also getting ready to do a video on tubing mascara and I’ll give you my review of the Tarte tubing mascara. I have always found tubing mascaras to be somewhat troublesome, so I’m going to have that video out probably at the end of March beginning of April.

Rare Beauty Lip Gloss in Mauve

I repurchased one of my favorite lip glosses by Rare Beauty in the color mauve. I wanted to find this nude pink, but it was in a special edition that came out on Christmas and they’re not out anymore, so I repurchased mauve.

Color Correcting Palette by Stila

I know the one by NYX is super popular, but this one I find really creamy. I’ve been using it for the last month and it color corrects really easily. It has every color that I need to get rid of the redness in my under eye, the dark purple, and the center. I cannot highly recommend this enough. I love the creamy base of this for our mature skin. I have tried other color correctors, but this is my favorite.

OG Contour Stick Collection

OG sent me their Contour stick collection and one of their Foundation sticks. I have to say of 2024, this is the best makeup find so far. I love these complexion products. I typically don’t wear foundation, but I look forward to putting on their complexion stick. My color is Aspen, and I absolutely love it. It’s super light, super creamy, and gorgeous. It melts into the skin, and it’s so mature skin-friendly. It actually gives that no makeup makeup look.

Discount Code

I do have a discount code for you, and I’ve actually found these products to look beautiful on mature skin in their Contour collection.

Highlighter

You get a highlighter, you also get a blush and a contour stick. All of these are so lovely on the skin. Like I said they just melt in give your skin that better than you look a very natural look, which is what Im looking for. I love make, but I love a minimalist makeup.

Blush

Look and these products I cant highly, recommend enough. Like I said they just melt in give your skin that better than you look a very natural look, which is what Im looking for. I love make, but I love a minimalist makeup. Look and these products I cant highly, recommend enough.
