Exploring Viral Skincare Products

It is jiggly. This has had me thinking a lot about how products often go viral because there’s something a little different, a little unique about them, and you know I like to see innovation. However, I think it’s important to occasionally take a step back and ask ourselves individually. Does the uniqueness of this specific product apply to us?

Deinfluencing Video Concept

As I thought more and more about this, I decided to do something a little different. Today we are going to do a deinfluencing video. I am going to discuss viral products that I don’t dislike. This is not going to be a video on objectively bad products, but rather conversations about do we all really need these things.

The Kosar Rex Advanced Snail 96 Essence

As always, time stamps and links are in the description box below if you would like to jump around, but since I already mentioned this – and I know some of you recognize this packaging – let’s start out this video with the Kosar Rex Advanced Snail 96 Essence. This product has been called one of my absolute favorite skincare products.

The Benefits of Snail Mucin Extract

This is a very popular K-beauty product that is made with 96% snail mucin extract. While it might initially sound a little gross, the idea behind it is that snails create this mucin to protect themselves in nature. Can there be benefit in that exact same mucin for human skin?

The Allure of Snail Mucin Skincare

It actually contains a lot of compounds that we already use in skincare products when people apply the snail mucin to their skin. They notice that it is deeply hydrating. A lot of people even report an anti-inflammatory effect, which I have noticed on myself as well. I do suspect I may not be the only one who was first a bit shocked by how truly slimy this product is. However, the more I used it, the more I saw this hydration and anti-inflammatory action on my own skin. The more I started to love this texture.

Potential Risks of Snail Mucin

There are quite a few things that you should know before you buy this product. One that I’ve seen talked about a lot now is that it is possible to have an allergy to snail mucin itself. I’m so glad to actually see this conversation happening; it’s an important discussion. However, I do feel there have been some limitations in the way this conversation manifests.

Complexities of Allergies

It is not just that if you have a dust mite allergy, you will have an allergy to snail mucin. That may be true for a lot of people, and that information is helpful. However, there are many reasons that people can’t use specific ingredients, making it really hard to predict if a product is going to work for you. A prime example for me is The Ordinary’s Soothing and Barrier Support Serum. Despite its beautiful name and promising benefits, it did not work for me.

Reactions to Skincare Products

My unfortunate experience with a soothing barrier support serum has raised questions about how people can react to various skincare products. It is vital to acknowledge that individuals may have different responses to skincare ingredients, leading to unexpected reactions.

Redundancy in Skincare Routines

While discussing the benefits of snail mucin in skincare, it is essential to consider the redundancy of including ingredients that are already present in other skincare products. Snail mucin contains glycoproteins, a hint of glycolic acid, and hyaluronic acidall of which are commonly found in other skincare formulations. This redundancy begs the question of whether incorporating snail mucin into a skincare routine is truly necessary.

Ethical Concerns with Snail Mucin Extraction

There is a pressing need for transparency and honesty in the skincare industry, especially concerning the ethical practices involved in extracting ingredients such as snail mucin. While some companies claim that their extraction process does not harm the snails involved, there have been alternative opinions suggesting otherwise.

Questions regarding the treatment and potential euthanization of snails used in the production of snail mucin products have sparked concerns among consumers. It is crucial for companies to address these ethical considerations openly and honestly to maintain trust and integrity within the skincare community.

Questioning Viral Skincare Trends

The rise of social media influencers has brought various skincare trends into the spotlight. One such trend that has gained popularity in recent years is the use of snail mucin in skincare products. However, as consumers, how much do we really know about the sourcing and production of these products?

Unveiling the Reality of Snail Mucin Harvesting

It is easy to fall for the captivating marketing strategies employed by beauty brands that promote the benefits of snail mucin. But have we stopped to think about the ethical implications of harvesting this ingredient? The process of extracting snail mucin is not always transparent, and as consumers, we should question the practices involved in obtaining this precious substance.

Exploring Alternatives

In a quest to find ethical skincare alternatives, some individuals have turned to products that do not contain snail mucin. One example is the Jumiso Snail Mucin 95 Plus Peptide, which has been compared to traditional snail mucin products. Surprisingly, the results of this comparison revealed that there was no noticeable difference in skin improvement, indicating that snail mucin may not be as essential as once believed.

Rethinking Skincare Necessities

As we delve deeper into the world of skincare, it becomes evident that there are numerous effective ingredients that can provide similar benefits to snail mucin. Hyaluronic acid, glycoproteins, and peptides are just a few examples of ingredients that can hydrate and nourish the skin without the need for snail mucin. Therefore, it begs the question – do we truly need snail mucin products in our skincare routines in 2024?

Encouraging Critical Thinking

The purpose of de-influencing viral skincare trends is not to discourage individuals from using certain products, but rather to encourage critical thinking and awareness about the ingredients we put on our skin. It is essential for consumers to question the sourcing, production, and necessity of skincare ingredients, including snail mucin, in order to make informed decisions about their skincare routines.

Reconsidering "Viral" Skincare

So yes, this is all to say what was once my number one Holy Grail skincare product is now a product where I can comfortably sit here and de-influence you out of it, because at the end of the day, not everybody needs every viral product. Let’s talk.

The Viral VT Cosmetics RLE

One more time about this viral VT Cosmetics RLE, shot so far, we’ve talked about a gelatinous blush, a sticky Essence. This is a very different product because, according to the Brand, this is a product that mimics microneedling in a topical serum. They are using sea sponges that look very sharp and pointy, and the idea is when you apply this product, it has these spiky sponges in it, as well as those sea actives, medas, aide, etc., to push that deeper into your skin.

The Evolution of a Story

After all, our skin is a barrier, and there are a lot of ingredients that we aren’t even sure how deep they go into our skininteresting idea. I got to give it to them. That is such a novel idea, but I do not like this product. I do not like it, it hurts. I have sensitive skin. This is a product that may not be difficult for some people to use at all, but we do have a very interesting evolution in the story.

Similar Principles in Different Products

I originally received this one through Style Van Peso, who sent me their Spicule Reborn Peeling Mask. Spicules are the same exact principlesea sponge ingredients in this, as well as in the VT Cosmetics. The idea of using sharp and pointy sea sponges to push active ingredients deeper into the skin is definitely intriguing.

The Irony of “Viral” Skincare

This one works for me, I’m happy. I can finally try this category, but I still have more. I want to say, because weve got to talk first and foremost about the absolute irony of this kind of product going viral. Let me show you what the product looks like so do you see how it has these thick particles in it? This is a mask where, as you apply it, you feel physical exfoliation in a world where people refused to use the saint IV scrub because it caused micro tears. This kind of product is now viral. Can we please aim for consistency?

Skincare Enthusiasts, Beware!

Skincare Enthusiast? I am begging you, but, as I sit here and tell you that this actually does work for me, let’s talk about why this is a wash-off product in this detail is why I just feel so confused about this product being viral. It feels to me like a product where theres a pretty decent risk factor. I do micro needle, you all know. I’ve talked about this before I do it with a great amount of caution and I dont leave the needles sitting in my skin. I certainly dont do it before I use my adapalene, my active ingredients, I am very cautious about Micro-needling and I would think that you should probably be as cautious with this product now heres.

The Confusion of Virality

What I want to say, I feel, like I dont understand why this is viral. In Korea, sorry for the double negative.

The Debate on Active Ingredients

In Korea, theres a different approach to skincare compared to the West. Active ingredients are not always the primary focus, and the percentages used may vary. This difference in perspective can lead to varying opinions on products like the VT Cosmetics serum. Some may view it as an active product, similar to how one might treat a skincare routine involving micro needling.

Potential Risks for Western Users

However, when it comes to using such products in the West, especially when combining them with other treatments like retinoids, concerns over potential risks start to arise. The presence of spiky needles in the serum can be cause for caution, as highlighted in a review on the YesStyle website where someone had a negative experience. This raises questions about the compatibility of such products with Western skincare routines.

Perspectives on Risk

While some users may see great results with the VT Cosmetics serum, others, like the author of the aforementioned review, may be apprehensive about the potential risks involved. Personal preferences and risk assessments play a significant role in determining whether a product is suitable for an individual’s skincare regimen.

Seeking Feedback

It is essential for individuals to share their experiences, both positive and negative, with products like the VT Cosmetics serum. By engaging in discussions and providing feedback, users can help others make informed decisions about incorporating such products into their skincare routines. Constructive dialogue can shed light on the complexities of skincare and the diverse reactions that different products may elicit.

The Beauty of Joan Sunscreen

Im talking about today lets move on to another viral K, beauty product, the beauty of joean sunscreen. How long has this been one of the absolute bestselling K, Beauty sunscreens? It has had some longevity.

The Comparison with Other Sunscreens

The funny thing for me about this is: is that theres a lot of sunscreens like this look Ill, show you one that is so similar and yet always less expensive, the sinic so similar and yet Ive bought this one for 5. The beauty of Joan is usually 10 to 15, but heres.

The Formulation of K-Beauty Sunscreens

What you need to know about K, Beauty sunscreens, so these companies are buying the formula for their sunscreens from sunscreen manufacturers and that formula itself. Listen. This one is so much more advanced than any American sunscreen and thats the fault of the American government.

The Evolution of Sunscreen Formulas

It is, unfortunately, its a great formula but its not exclusive to beauty of Joans product, and this whole formula includes tennis, orb M, which is kind of like a hybrid. It does start off looking a bit white on your skin and in fact, Ive heard it doesnt work on deeper skin tones. So these sunscreen manufacturers have been busy working on a new formula.

The Introduction of Nzen Clear Filter Sun Essence

That doesnt include tennis orb M, and you may have seen the buzz about this one right here: the nzen, clear, filter, Sun Essence. This is a newer formula, theres no tennis, orb m in this formula, so it is able to instantly instantly disappear into your skin. But remember these are the sunscreen manufacturers, so you arent even limited to just the nzen.

Deinfluencing the Skincare Craze

We talked all about this in my sunscreens video, so go check that out. If you want to see more about this, but this is all to say, there are a lot lot of really good K. Beauty, sunscreens

Not Limited to One Brand

Sunscreen is one of three critical steps in a skincare routine, cleanser moisturizer sunscreen. So please use sunscreen. I do believe that K, Beauty sunscreens are high quality, but just know that you are in no way limited to the beauty of Joan sunscreen.

Changing Preferences and Formulas

In fact, I won’t buy that one again, because I, like the new formula more what Incarnation is going on with lip balms. I feel like brands have to be making up for the lack of lip product sales during the pandemic. They are everywhere. You cannot walk into a Sephora without a new lip balm being released.

Too Many Choices

It will fly at you out of the Shadows, but I want to have an honest conversation about all these lip products. You dont need all of them. You do not need all the lip balms. I feel like what is happening as a natural consequence of so many new releases is that influencers are gravitating towards a handful of them.

Influencer Preferences

You know somebody that prefers the summer Fridays lip balm, somebody that prefers the Ole henrion and I think its, creating a situation where people, where viewers, where consumers of content SLC consumers, are feeling like. Well, I got to buy at least two or maybe three of these viral lip balms.

The Influence of Scent and Taste in Viral Lip Balms

It seems that the allure of viral skincare products, specifically lip balms, lies in their sensory appeal. These products are heavily scented and some even have flavors, offering consumers a delightful experience while using them. In a world where fragrance-free skincare is gaining popularity, scented lip balms have unexpectedly carved out a niche for themselves. Brands have capitalized on this opportunity, focusing on creating products that not only nourish the lips but also tantalize the senses.

Understanding the Importance of Scent in Skincare

Research indicates that humans are profoundly affected by scent. The olfactory system is powerful and can evoke emotions, memories, and even influence behavior. Therefore, it is not surprising that scented skincare products, such as these viral lip balms, have garnered widespread attention. The appeal lies not only in the product’s effectiveness but also in the overall experience it provides to the consumer.

The Role of Ingredients in Lip Balm Selection

While the sensory aspect plays a significant role in the popularity of viral lip balms, the formulation of these products cannot be overlooked. Different lip balms cater to varying lip care needs some are more hydrating, others are emollient, and some are occlusive. Depending on the condition of your lips, you can choose a lip balm that best suits your needs. For dehydrated lips, opt for hydrating lip balms; for dry lips, emollient lip balms work well; and for lips that struggle with moisture retention, occlusive lip balms are the ideal choice.

The Shift Away from Fragranced Skincare

But let’s take a big step back together because I just said in a fragrance-free skincare world, people are unknowingly really appreciating the scent in their lip balms. Why did people move away from fragranced skincare? You might be going well Alice because of the risk of irritation. Yes, exactly, so now we have an explanation for why some lip balms are working for some people but causing reactions for other people.

The Complexity of Skincare

It absolutely could come down to the scent or, again, it could come down to other ingredients. Skincare is complicated, and we are all different, so my bottom line with this conversation – and this is the category where I feel the most adamant about this – you do not need all of these lip balms. What will absolutely be best for you is, again, to figure out which of those three categories will benefit you the most. What is going on with your lips? Why is it that you want a lip balm? What is the problem that you are experiencing with your lips, or are you not experiencing a problem at all and you do just want a nice color, a nice scent, because objectively, none of these are the best; it will always come down to personal preference.

A Personal Experience

Before I end this video, I want to throw you one kind of a bonus conversation here, and this is based on a true story of what happened to me recently.

The Appeal of “Viral” Skincare

So you all know I got into tier tier right – I I am so digging this brand, so I heard about how popular their cushion foundations are, and I was thinking, okay well. I should probably buy a mini size to start out with, because I dont really know what shade Im going to be in these. I think I know I think, Im usually a 21 in K, Beauty but Im not sure. However, I talked myself out of it. I talked myself out of buying the mini, because the mini is only 0.5 Oz.

The Importance of Trying Before Buying

The full size is 63 and its not a huge price difference between the two and then I got it in. This is the first one that I bought and its not the right. Color, so when I went back to buy a second one, you bet that I bought the mini and its had me thinking about how I had the option here: the option to try a mini before you spend more money on the full size.

Value Over Price

It was there in a complexion product. Why did I not take that? Because I thought it wasnt as good of a value, however, its not a good value at all, if you bought too much of a product that you will never wear because its not the right shade for you and while Im talking about a cushion product here, this Could apply to anything when you are shopping, especially on K, Beauty, retailers, where it is a lot harder to make a return?

The Benefits of Trying the Mini

I want to recommend you try the mini, especially on a product where you are on the fence about it.

Deinfluencing Viral Skincare

Are you not sure that snail mucin is going to work for you? The beauty industry is flooded with viral skincare products that promise miraculous results. Influencers and celebrities often endorse these products, creating a frenzy among consumers. But how do you separate fact from hype when it comes to skincare?

Try the Mini

One way to deinfluence viral skincare is to try mini versions of the products. This allows you to test the product without committing to a full-size purchase. It’s important to remember that what works for one person may not work for another. By trying the mini version, you can see if the product truly lives up to the hype before investing in the full-size product.

Be Skeptical

In the age of social media, it’s easy to get swept up in the excitement surrounding a viral skincare product. However, it’s essential to approach these products with a healthy dose of skepticism. Don’t believe everything you see or hear online. Do your research and look for reviews from reputable sources before making a decision.

Consult a Professional

If you’re unsure about a viral skincare product, consider consulting a dermatologist or skincare specialist. They can provide personalized recommendations based on your skin type and concerns. A professional opinion can help guide you in the right direction and prevent you from falling for skincare trends that may not be suitable for your skin.

When you look at snail mucin extract on a molecular level, you start to understand why this product has gained such popularity. It’s all about looking beyond the initial reaction and considering the potential benefits for our skincare routines. So, the next time a skincare product goes viral, take a moment to deinfluence and truly evaluate if it’s something that aligns with your skincare needs and preferences.

Remember, skincare is not one-size-fits-all. What works for one person may not work for another. It’s essential to deinfluence viral skincare and make informed decisions based on your individual needs and preferences. By trying mini versions, being skeptical, and consulting professionals, you can navigate the world of skincare with confidence and avoid falling for the hype.
