The Rise and Fall of KKW Beauty
If you follow anything to do with the Kardashians or the Jenners, you’ll probably know that Kim Kardashian used to have a makeup brand back in the day. I think this was like 2018. It was under the name, kkw Beauty, obviously back when she was a West, it was kind of a success cuz at the time it was a very talked about brand. She just came out with these Contour sticks from what I remember. I think I did test it out in a video. I know I probably used it like a handful of times after that.
A Gimmick or a Genuine Product?
So in my opinion, I think the product was a little bit of a gimmick at that time. The makeup brand then went a little bit quiet and went on a Hiatus and that’s when she started to dabble with this new brand called Skin by Kim, which was predominantly a skincare brand. At the start, the skincare products that she released under this brand were just way overpriced. They were super expensive. Yes, the ingredients were good, but, to be honest to me, it seemed like a little bit of a cash grab, so now that she has returned back to her true calling, which is obviously the makeup, I really am Keen to see what this will be like.
Introducing SKKN By Kim

Initial Impressions
Try out all of the new products from skin by Kim all right. So here I have my box of goodies. This box contains three products. These are the three products that she has released: theres the eyeshadow palette, the lip liner and the lipstick in total. Everything that is inside this box has cost me 21 thats, including a whopping 19 shipping fee, obviously skin being an American brand.
They do ship from there. So if you were to order something from there, just know that you are the one paying the cost they dont have like a third party kind of retailer, or anything like that. That holds this product currently in the UK.
The Packaging
Anyways here is what the box looks like inside its pretty plain actually, but its got Kims eyes right there. I really like that. Little touch I mean for the price that were paying here. You definitely dont want to be looking at just a simple white piece of paper, so I like the nice touches. I also like how aesthetic the Box looks its got all this little tissue inside and then we have the three products so with this launch.
Mixed Opinions
I have been keeping up with peoples opinions over on the Instagram like when she released this and honestly there was a mixture Of opinions, the packaging is very neutral, very minimalistic, which honestly I dont expect anything different from her. That is her brand. That is literally what whole house looks like.
Quality and Performance
Now, let’s get into the real test: the quality and performance of the products. Starting with the eyeshadow palette, it has a nice range of neutral shades that are perfect for everyday wear. The pigmentation is decent, but some shades require building up for intensity. The lip liner glides on smoothly and the color is beautiful, but it tends to smudge easily. Finally, the lipstick has a creamy texture and provides good hydration, but it doesn’t have the best staying power. Overall, the products are decent, but not exceptional.
Is It Worth the Hype?
The big question here is whether SKKN by Kim is just another Kardashian cash grab. Well, based on my experience and the mixed opinions I’ve seen, it’s hard to say. The packaging and branding align with Kim’s aesthetic, but the product quality doesn’t necessarily justify the high price tag. It feels like a typical celebrity beauty brand, with some hits and misses. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and whether you’re willing to pay the premium for the Kardashian name.

Price Point:
Let’s begin by discussing the price point of the SKKN palette. It is priced at 49, which may seem quite steep for a palette containing only 12 matte shadows. Personally, I believe that a price point of around 30 would be more reasonable for a matte eyeshadow palette. Although the packaging is sleek and appealing, it doesn’t give off a vibe of being worth 50 pounds.
Upon examining the palette, it becomes evident that it is rather plain-looking. It doesn’t seem to have any unique or standout features. However, for beginners, this might actually be a positive aspect. The palette is easy to work with, containing both light and dark shades. It provides a range of options for creating different looks and allows for easy blending and deepening of colors.
Comparison to Makeup by Mario:
Many comparisons have been made between the SKKN palette and the one created by makeup artist Mario. Side by side, there are indeed some resemblance between the two. However, it’s essential to keep in mind that neutral palettes tend to have a similar layout and color selection. So, it’s not surprising to find similarities between different brands and products within this category of eyeshadows.
Is it Another Kardashian KASH GRAB?
Now, let’s address the elephant in the room – is this palette just another Kardashian KASH GRAB? It’s a valid question to ask, considering their brand’s history. However, without testing the SKKN palette ourselves, it would be too early to jump to any s.

While the SKKN palette may seem overpriced and lacking in uniqueness, it could still be a suitable option for beginners. Its simplicity and versatility make it a potential staple in one’s makeup collection. As for its association with the Kardashian brand, we must reserve our final judgment until we have seen how it performs in terms of quality and longevity.
Is It Another Kardashian KASH GRAB!?
I could have been a fly on the wall when Kim was perhaps discussing her palette launch with Mario because I’m sure he would have probably said, like yeah it’s very similar to my palette right, so that’s… The palette I’m excited to see what we can create with this.
The Lip Liner
We then have the two lip products right here. So price point wise, I was mostly Shook at the price point of the lip liner. I got this in the shade nude 09, and this was 22. Now for something like this, I’d expect to pay like 1-15 Max for a lip liner, so 22 does seem kind of steep.
Shade wise, I feel like a lot of the shades were very, very similar, so it was kind of hard to choose. I kind of just ended up clicking one and just went with it.
The Lipstick
The last product is, of course, the lipstick. They call this the soft matte lip color. I got this in the shade nude 02, and this was 31, so again, quite expensive. You get 2.4 G in this lipstick. It does seem like quite a thin one. So I guess we’ll see how we get on with that.
The Eyeshadow Palette
Starting out with the eyeshadow palette, these are the shades that we get. It’s quite a warm toned palette, although there are a few cool tone shades in this sort of corner here. I have already done my base and also primed my lids, but I’m just going to set everything down with this shadow right here.
As I’m picking the shadow up, I do see a little bit of kickback, not an awful lot, but I mean enough for me to notice, just to be safe.
The palette itself looks pretty good, but I am a bit perplexed by the similarity to Mario’s palette. It seems like there could be some overlap.
However, I’m still intrigued to see what looks I can create with this and how the shadows perform on the eyes. The warm tones are definitely my type of shades, so I’m hoping they’ll blend well and have good pigmentation.
I’ll be experimenting with different combinations and techniques to test the versatility and quality of this palette.
Testing SKKN By Kim
Im going to dust everything off between uses, this is the lightest shade of the palette and Im just going to literally pop that all over the lid as a wash of color, just to kind of tone out any of the darkness and the veins underneath my eyelid.
First Impressions
I mean color wise its not a very noticeable shade on my eyelid. It kind of just melts into my skin tone, but I do find that adding this sort of layer of eyeshadow first always just makes the other Shadows blend into it easier. There is a little bit of Fallout just here, but obviously thats with the lighter shade so its not as noticeable. I am a little bit concerned how the darker shades are going to perform now.
Going for a Transition
Okay, so thats a nice clean canvas now lets go into one of the more transitional Shades. Perhaps this one Im just going to start patting this right in the outer corner Im also trying to Fan this. This outwards towards my temple. So far, this shade is actually really nice, theres, very, very minimal Fallout, and it really Blends like a dream. Its also very pigmented, I feel, like a tiny bit, definitely goes a long way. That shade is honestly stunning its like my perfect transitional shade. I love it.
A Familiar Look
Ive just realized the kind of look Im going to go for cuz honestly going into this. I had no idea what I was going to create, but I think Im actually going to end up creating my makeup from my wedding day.

Cuz you dont want to overpower it right there Im sort of working to a super sharp line and then blending it away into like a diffused kind of gradient. Im now going to be taking a little bit of the darkest shade on a tiny flat brush alone and Im going to start. Creating that darkest shade right in the sort of outer Corner really close to the Lash line. And as I get to the very outer corner Im, starting to kind of flick, it upwards to create that liner sort of shape, Ive absolutely been loving, doing my liner with an ey Shadow. It just looks so much more like subtle. If you know what I mean.
From the description, it seems like the application process requires some precision and blending techniques. The Results
Im now going to be taking this shade right here and mixing it with a little bit of this one and Im basically going to accentuate that inner Corner sort of crease Im, also pulling that dark brown shade. Underneath my lower lash line, just to kind of tie the whole look together Im now going into the darkest matte black shade, with a very small sort of dense, thin brush and Im Im going to start packing that outer Corner liner. Just like this, oh my gosh, that literally looks so good Im very impressed with this black shade, its actually really really black and theres, not a single bit of Fallout. I was so worried about that. I also want to create, like an inner Corner sort of point, so Im going to be taking the dark brown shade on a really thin brush like this and Im just going to draw that tiny little line like so now.
The results seem to be positive. The reviewer is impressed with the pigmentation and performance of the product. From a distance, the overlined effect is not too noticeable, thanks to the darker shade creating dimension. The formula of the lip liner was creamy, but not overly so. SKKN By Kim’s lip liner also receives an eight out of ten from me, considering the quality and the price.
